I took me busa off the clock in France, oops i mean Germany, i de-restricted it so it went past the 186mph mark. it wasn't a smooth ride so i soon took it down 2 a sensible 120-140mph for the rest of the trip home.
Oh yeah, i took me crappy old mondeo 2 145mph, that was a gps readout, the clock was showing 150! Click on the link below & click on Mr Riggs Mondeo, she is a beast!!

The fastest I have gone on the street.was on a modded 98 Zx-9r drag bike. The speedo was buried at 190 which equates to around 178 or 180. 160+ wasn't uncommon. I don't do that anymore, that was when I was younger.
128mph in a custom 1970 Monte Carlo and 147mph in a heavily modded 1990 Chevy Pick-Up.
The pick-up was a scary run since we didn't have a cover on the bed to help out with aerodynamics. I ended up taking it off the highway off-ramp so that I could get back on and head back the way I came. Somehow, I broke something shifting through the gears and got her stuck in first. I had to drive 7 miles home in 1st gear, bouncing the tach around 4,000 RPMs.
The MC run was done on a highway where I was "cruising" at somewhere between 100-110mph. I passed a state trooper in the median, and dropped the hammer instead of slowing down. I made it to 128 before I found a spot to get off the highway and get out of dodge. It was kind of scary in her as well since it's not heavily modded.we transplanted a 327cid into her, but we never did anything to the 30 year old (at the time) suspension.
I love how many people on this site own Skylines in America.

In the good old days, when road-rallies were a feature of British motor-sport and were tolerated to some extent, I think I once touched 125mph downhill.
Of course, that's not so fast compared to some of the answers, except that the road I was on was just 12ft wide and quite bumpy, with a fairly horrendous drop on the right hand side into a valley.
How I lived to be 25, I'll never know!
