To all drivers?
Answers:
Can no one stop the traffic behined you for a minute or 2 while you being the only person i know does the right thing and reverses onto a drive GOOD ON YOU for that and fingers up to the other pricks
Legally speaking, reversing against the flow of traffic means you have NO right of way, or priority to enter the driveway. Unfortunately for you in this case, the drivers who are travelling forwards following the flow of traffic have the right of way.
Impatience and inconsideration is an unfortunate sign of the times in which we live.
Rise above it.
most drivers these days dont care what other drivers are wanting or needing to do
I agree with you . There is plenty of need in our society for more patience and consideration for others
You need to balance your rights to keep your car on your property with your obligation not to obstruct the highway. You may need to time your arrivals and departures for a quieter time of the day. If this is a problem, have a word with your local authority highways department.
People are ignorant and think they are invincible when behind the wheel.
speak to the council about it, you are doing something totally legal, and its inciting abuse from other drivers who don't know your intentions.perhaps they can put up signs of SOME sort to indicate that people turn off there to park up! i would feel just as annoyed.
Alternatively, get a special brake light for your rear windscreen which indicates your braking.better still, i just had an idea, it happened yesterday when i was driving.
a man was driving with his hazards lights on.i slowed down, then, suddenly, he indicated left and parked up, by then, because i was made to drive more cautiously than normal, i slowed down long enough for him to park up. But then, i'm female.i have loads more patience than most, cause by then a testosterone meathead had pulled up right to my bumper, drawing from me several sharp looks in the rear view mirror. Never mind hey, just do the hazards thing, it makes them all grind to a near halt, because effectively, it will be a serious hazard if some fool didnt notice to read your brake lights for what they were.
I do sympathise with you as I also live on a main road but with no driveway (conservation area won't allow). I have to park up on the pavement to off load shopping - and even though I put on my hazards to pull up on the kerb, I get all the abuse going too. Just a lot of inconsiderate arrogant drivers about.
I do hope you get something sorted before you lose it big time.
Do every one a favour (favor). Get a bike
I am sure you can apply to the local council and ask them to place keep clear road markings by your drive. A similar thing happened to a couple of houses by us and now they have space allowing them to drive on and off.
I Have every sympathy and the exact same problem!
I have even stopped short turned and signalled the driver behind to stop so I can swing out into the road to back in and had the thoughtless idiot pull up right behind me kinda between me and the drive! I just sat and waited till they eventually twigged and backed up sufficient for me to make the move. The other tactic I use is to sit as close to the crown of the road as possible while there is insufficient room for them between me and the kerb.
I find it usefull to wind down the window and make sure I have made eye-contact with the driver immediately behind. Mostly they will cooperate when they realise the light is red anyway.
There is no right solution to this problem but the highway code does say that you shouldn't reverse into a main road - so you are legally entitled to have access to your drive to back in! Hope these tips help you! p.s. try not to descend to their level of ignorance and lose it road rage is dangerous!
Let people wait for you for a couple of minutes.
You are going to find ignorant drivers everywhere.Even if they have no where to go they still are in a rush and aren't going to let you go by or do what you have to do.
why don't you get a large mirror and place it on the other side of the road so you can drive straight in and when your reverse you will be able to see the flow of traffic when your going out again
Although You are reversing into your driveway in order to pull out more safely, You should not expect other motorists to wait for You to perform said manoeuvre. Drive in forwards and turn it round later when the traffic calms.
thats easy!! Just drive in, don't reverse. It's much more efficient to reverse out of your property than in as you need a lot more swing unless your car happens to have rear-wheel steering. Whats more, as you won't hold people up for so long when coming out and they can't help but know what your doing they will tend to be more polite.
