Are Ducati 749's comfortable for general weekend cruises if your 6ft 3" ?
also i will sometimes take a pillion
Answers:
Do not ever try to carry a board on a bike, unless you want to die. To answer your initial question, yes. At 6'3", you are tall, but not unusually so, unless it's all in your legs. In any case, you can fit a Ducati (which has a certain amount of adjustment possible). Also, there are peg and seat adjustments possible. Talk to the dealer when you go for a test-ride. And keep the surfboards in your cage.
if your what is six feet three inches? You're not making the question very clear
are you referring to a surfbored that is 6'3""
your a big lad for a sports bike. go to the showroom and sit on one and see how comfertable it is. but i think it shouldnt be a problem. only when you open the throttle and get your head down maybe it will cramp you a bit. a big trailie like bmw or a ktm would suit your height better.
happy riding
Ducati 749's are not comfortable end of. And it'll be the end of the relationship for you if you try and put your partner on the back. They're going to need to be as fanatical about the bike as you are to put up with the riding position. Get a test ride if you can. I'm sure the bike will dazzle you in lots of ways, especially its ability to attract attention, so showing off at the weekend will be glorious. As I said tho, you'll need a VERY understanding pillion!
To answer your question tho - yes you'll manage weekend cruises, even long mileages but you won't feel comfortable afterwards (I rode 500 miles in a day on my 748 and needed physio for a week after that!).
Good luck!
I'm 6'4" tall & I have a Yamaha FZ1, wife & I love it (I'm 30, she's 29 yrs. old.) We ride a lot together, & often all day. The 749. fagetaboudit'. Not comfy for cruising. If you wanna' cruise & still have sporting capabilities. & still have a happy passenger over & over, check into sport standard/"naked" bikes. You, your pillon & your wallet will all be a lot happier.
P.S. Check web forums for thoughts too. I'll bet there's a 749 forum out there. Search it & see what pops up for you. The FZ1 Owner's Association is one of the top owner's forums on the net. Tons of great info about all kinds of stuff.
Probably not. Get thee to a bike shop and ask if you can have a sit on one, or go to the NEC next week, you'll be able to try one out at the Bike Show.
It's a 200 mile day bike because of the cramped legs and the bars being around the height of the seat. It is not designed to be "cruised" comfortably no matter your height, plenty of other possibilities so I won't even make a suggestion. If you're looking for a prestige bike stick to a Harley Davidson -- your pillion will be happier for it. Most other brands get their prestige factor from riding performance and you won't impress anyone putting along on a freeway.
it would be uncomfortable. If you are looking for something exotic to run the twisties, go for a Aprilia RSV1000R, it is much more comfortable than the duc.
you will need a season ticket with your chiropractor
A GOOD HEIGHT TO OWN A DUCATTI 749 IS 5FT 11 IF YOU WANT TO TAKE IT ON A CRUISE THAT WHY I BROUGHT A GOLD WING
Consider a BMW if you are serious about riding with a pillion and luggage. Definitely not as sportivo, but gives good mileage, low mainenance and since you're a big boy too, it shouldn`t get too heavy to handle in higher speeds. If sorted out right, it can be pretty fast for a tourer. Power and handling capable of quite insane speeds outside of closed track. If track enthusiast then not your choice. I am 6ft 5" and weigh 260, so i really cant consider a sportbike. Bugger!
I think it would be fine for weekends. As long as your not going long distance on it otherwise you'll end up with major backache.
