What in your opinion was the best 2 stroke motorcycle of the 80s?

Please explain your decision in as much detail as possible. Thanks.

Answers:
The legend that was the RD350LC, it took lightweight strokers to a whole new level and taught a lot of bikers how to ride fast.
There is bigger, faster, more advanced 2 strokes around but none where as complete a package as the Elsie or had the grin factor.
By far the 1987 CR500R this was the hight of 500 development this is the year it had the highest compression and best port timing, the bike was a monster on the track a beast in open desert and a lady in my heart, one for the record books. With a pipe and jet kit it is the most powerful production dirt bike ever!
It's got to be the RD350 LC a classic. Who could forget that engine, flat below 7000rpm mental above it spindly frame, ropey brakes, skinny tyres, all speed exhausts and drop handlebars FANTASTIC!
personnally, the best two stroke of the eighties was the dear old 350lc{elsie}.the acceleration and noise from a well sorted 350 was something else to see and experience {i owned a 350 }.fitted with decent reeds, expansion chambers premix the oil /petrol sort out the carbs ,then prepare to wear brown leathers if you got it wrong .superb bike why dont they still make them ,beaurocrats thats why.r.i.p. elsie
the rd500lc/ypvs or the rg400 gamma
when you rode them you was number one (in your head) as it was a track bike for the road
The 1981 AW490 Maico.

A brute of a bike, it had a staggering spread of power and all the legendary Maico handling habits. People bought the bike in droves.

The bike was so good, that every Japanese factory bought several 490's and tore them apart to study them. It took another three years before Japan figured out how to successfully copy the power-band of the 490 Maico. But they never did copy the handling, suspension and the.mystique that the small little German cottage factory could produce.
RD350 revved like a bugger and as quick as some of the 600s of the time. had a tendancy to go pop and fall to bits tho lol

RGV500 if you could afford it
Road bikes, I'd say the RD350LC but have to agree with Nomad - 490 Maico, what a machine.
dirt bike-400 can-am, street bike suzuki 500 gamma
i had a 1989 aprilla 125 the harder you rode it the more it wanted
