If you put a bus engine in a mini and a good gearbox, what will happen?
Answers:
I have actually seen this done. All the springs, chassis, shocks, frame have to be reinforced, but it does fit, with some modifying, awesome amount of torque, not a lot of top speed.
The suspension and chassis would collapse !!
Your insurance would go through the roof.
You will be late whever you go!
How big is your bus engine. If it is a large 6 cylinder you have got no chance. Weight and physical size. If you do put a bigger engine in your insurance will go through the roof and you might not get it passed as roadworthy.
You need to re-inforce the chassis considerably because of the extra weight involved. What you would find is that you would not travel very fast and find the vehicle would want to stop every half mile or so.
There won't be room for the driver. Have you ever sen a bus engine? On odd occasions in Hong Kong you would catch site of one lying in the road, having been rejected by the bus. Like a stranded whale.
Sit an elephant on top of it first to test its strength then use its trunk to lift the remains into a very small skip.
You are putting a Tiger in a room with a cat. What do you think will happen?
Firstly, if you put your mini with a bus engine, what will happen is it becomes a minibus. Its quite sad that this minibus might not even carry its driver, what more to carry passengers. If it does, worse still, when you go for refueling, once you get closer to the fuel dispenser in which case diesel powered engine I suppose, people might say that you're drunk for refueling your mini with diesel. Its just a joke mike!! Secondly, this is serious, if you want to be practical, just forget about doing so but if you just to make it peculiar then you may go ahead.
why?
no the gearbox only has one driveshaft coming out this goes to a bell housing onto the back axle which drives the back wheels, the engine is behind the back wheels, plus if you put it in the front you would not be able to see over the engine to see where you are going
The mini would collapse as it couldn't support the weight of the bus engine.
