CBT course - my son passed his om an automatic - does he have to retake cbt to ride a geared moped?
Answers:
yes he can,at the age of 17 the cbt covers him to ride any bike upto and including 125cc regardless of the type of machine he took it on.you might find the instructor that taught him hes hand written {auto} on the bottom of the certificate, thats what we do at the training school i work for but thats for our benifit.so he is totally legal to ride a 125.
Yes he can, the CBT course is simply to learn basic skills like turning and stopping. He can ride any bike up to 125cc and it makes no difference if its geared or not. After 125cc he will have to take full bike test.
Nope. He will have to re-do his CBT on a geared bike. He won't even be able to do his full bike test on a geared bike unless he does his CBT on a geared bike.
No. CBT is road awareness and general control. It is only for the full licence that there is a difference
no wayhosay
The CBT isn't about teaching them about use of gears, its about road awareness and ensuring they are confident the rider has the skills to be able to indicate, brake, position the bike safely.
A CBT doesn't distinguish between geared and automatic, however I beleive a full bike test would need to be taken if he wants anything over a 125cc.
unfortunately he will have to retake the cbt
dont think it makes any differance, he just cant go over 125cc
