125CC bike insurance for 17 year old?

Answers:
Assuming you are in the UK, a fair estimate would be anything from £500-£1000, my first year cost me about £400, but i was 21.
Best thing to do is get some online quotes, or phone some of the bigger bike insurers, like Bennetts and Carole Nash.
In my experience, Carole Nash are pretty much the cheapest going, all my bikes are insured with them.
When you get quotes, work on the assumption that you are the age you will be when you will have your CBT, and have already passed. This way it will be the most accurate indication of how much it will cost you.
Some things that will help lower the cost of insurance are as follows:
1. A brick build garage, or failing that, a metal shed with an insurance appproved padlock on it.
2. If you don't have either of the above, storing the bike off road, for example in your back garden, with an insurance approved chain and padlock, or brake disc lock (pref both)
3. If anyone else in the family rides bikes, put them as a named rider, age and experience brings the policy down.
4. Bend the truth a little, always say your "estimated" annual mileage is lower then it will be. With bikes, you can get away with saying under 1000miles, but it's best to say under 2000.
5. Although it won't apply to riders on a CBT, but worth knowing for the future, if you can, always take the Advanced Riders/Driving course, as this will reduce the policy by quite a bit.
If you dont already have an idea what kind of bike you are going to go for, try checking Auto Trader's website, get an idea of what kind of bike you would like, and how much they cost.
Good luck whatever you decide.
Depends on where you're at. Florida doesn't legally allow anyone a bike license under 18.
Hay I Bought a Yamaha 125 Brand New and the dealer offered me free insurance for a year. If you did something similar then after a year I think it would come down allot.
I also got some good quotes from Bennett's Bike Insurance.
check it out.
Try ringing a few insurance companys and explaining your situation and i'm sure they would be more than happy enough to give you a rough estimate. Good luck.
I'm with Carole Nash, but I'm dead old my bike is older than you, try Norwich union they seen quite competitive
When i turned 17 in got a Gilera Runner 125cc. I paid 50GBP a month insurance. Works out to be 600GBP. Excess was 400GBP tho. Didn't have garage, garden etc. Just padlocked the front or rear wheel to a hoop i put in the ground part buried in concrete. Im 21 now and have a car but my ped as the best 2 years. FREEDOM from parents.
Good Luck
p.s - Do ring around for quotes tho. Buy a bike trader or a scooter magazine for insurance numbers
p.s.s! Make sure you dont spend any less then 100GBP on a decent chain and padlock
a honda cg125 is about £300 1/3rd party fire and theft shop around
I am an insurance broker .With the information you have supplied I would be pleased to offer you a policy which would cover you third party fire and theft. If you elect to pay the excess of the first £1000 in the event of an accident we would quote you a premium of £16387.63p per annum based on a 17 year old driving less than 150 miles per year living in a low crime area .
