How do you think modes of transport will develop in the next 50 years?

Answers:
I think the main areas that will develop are style (pretty obvious if you look at how much it changes even within a 10 year span), efficiency (d%&n global warming), and automation (a lot has been done in the past fifteen years to develop this already, we already have mass-produced cars that can do most of the work of parking themselves). It just seems to me that automobiles are the best way to go, flying cars would be nice to go straight from one place to another, but that would be the main problem, as you would have to be constantly checking in all directions to make sure there wasn't some other guy about to t-bone you. Another problem i can see with the hovercars, is stopping. Its hard enough to stop sometimes when you need to, even on dry pavement. What happens if you remove nearly all friction from the equation?
