Should the speed limit be raised from 70 mph on motorways.?
Answers:
i think the speed limit could be raised , lets say between 2200 and 0600 especialy on motorways maybe to 85-90mph between these hours there isnt a lot of traffic on the roads and it would be safer to drive at these speeds the majority of poeple on the motorways at this time are professional drivers of some sort, to say that though if they lowered the speed limit to say 35-40mph you would still get the type of people who like to argue with crash barriers, trucks and trees ,and other motorists, it isnt the speed limits that cause accidents its the idiots who shouldnt be out on the roads with the pieces of paper that says they can drive vehicles when they wouldnt be safe on a push bike or skateboard
yes, speed kills
They should lower them, not speed them up.
no ppl already get in enough accidents until ppl learn to be more careful we shouldnt raise the speed
whos knows i need points! and umm whoever sees this e mail me at makaylacook99@yahoo.com cuz i am bored and who knows ? you might get a new friend or girlfriend or mabey you might get over being bored? please e mail me everyone!
no,,i think that's fast enough, its hard enough to try and stop a vehicle doing 70 now try stopping one doing 80 or so,,that's fast enough for anyone to go,,good luck.
yes
i mean hooneslty most people go like 70,80,90 when the limit is 55.
if you didnt change it, theyll still go the same speed.
if it was changed then al least they wouldnt get in trouble.
and cops can have mroe tiem to find people doign other bad stuff instead of worrying abotu speeding commuters.
they are considering 80 mph in west Texas and yes ,go for it
Would you prefer having a flat tyre at 70 mph or above?
I am sure you know the answer.
Yes and no.
I would say no because the speed limit is set as the maximum speed based on the design of the highway. However, the speed limit should not only be based on the design of the highway but also on statistics (for example, if there are many accidents on a particular stretch of road, perhaps the speed limit should be lowered). It should also be lowered depending on the condition of the roadway (e.g., at a curve, off ramp, hill, etc.). The reason for raising it is because most people drive faster than the posted speed limit and it is safer to be driving with the flow of traffic. If you're going much slower, you will impede traffic and increase risk to yourself and others (that's why there are also minimum speed limits). The U.S. uses the 85th percentile rule to set speed limits.
The road works department has specified the speed limit 70mph for safety purpose not only for the rider but for the passenger and other motorist on the road. They have surveyed the accident proned areas or treatening areas and the many actual accidents happening around these areas. So prevention is better than cure. Drive safe. Care for yourself.Care for your loved ones.
For one thing, the Autobahn in Germany is overengineered, and maintained like no other roadway in the world. That is why they can maintain high speeds. But, have you ever seen the results of the accidents they have? With cars zipping along at 150 km/hr and up, they pile up like cordwood if the fog rolls in suddenly, and it does. The whole Autobahn system is not limit-free by the way. Sections have defined limits, and the fines for exceeding the limits are very high. You can also get a ticket anywhere on the Autobahn for driving faster than conditions warrant. Germany has also been pondering putting limits on the whole system in an effort to heighten safety and reduce fuel consumption. They reason nobody really needs to drive over 250 km/hr. And for the person that believes the limit could be raised at night when there is less traffic, I ask you how can you expect to see? Drive over 80 mph (125 km/hr) and you will far outdrive any lights that are legal on the roadway.
Yes it should
