Can mini cabs stop in bus lanes to pick up/drop off passengers?

the W@nkers seem to be a law unto themselves, they can stop anywhere
some bus lanes are for taxi's too. And not all bus lanes are 24hr, some are bus/cycle/taxi only for certain periods of the day.
However the taxi drivers where I live are a law unto themselves anyway!
Not a dedicated bus lane no but as they think they own the road they usually do.
And unless the customer actually booked the minicab to pick them up in the street its illegal to pick them up anyway.
Only hackney carriages (often black cabs but not strictly) can just pick up customers randomly.
Minicabs have to be booked in advance and usually pick up from an address.
i got a 70 pound fine for that so why should they be allowed to do that
Normally no, and they are usually classed as private hire cars rather than taxis.
But, some councils class them as buses if they can more than a set number of passengers. You would have to check with each councils bye laws to be sure.
I was a mini cabber for 8yrs,the answer is defiantly NO,although i have heard of a case that went to high court,and was succesful.dropping off disabled,but needed to show proof.p/s im now a suberban black taxi,so no probs in london,but have to pay ripp off congestion

Guess some authorities allow them to use bus lanes.
Not usually; it depends on the Road Traffic Order governing the lane in question.
Those bus lanes that do permit "taxis", usually use the wording "Hackney Carriages", which exclude mini cabs.

Some bus lanes are taxi and bike lanes but some are not, but I see taxi drivers dropping people off everywhere and they don't seem to check they can.
