Whats the average punishment for drink driving, first offence?
Answers:
Depends on the state, but in OH, my step-dad's punishment was (he was arrested earlier this month):
$700 fine
Licence suspended for 6 months-$400 & some to get it back.
Attending a weekend DUI school.
& having the embarassing "drunk tags" (ugly yellow & red licence plates) on your vehicle.
I was hit by a drunk driver 2 years ago, but it was his 2nd arrest & he had his licence suspended @ the time he hit me & he got 5 months and all this other stuff.
You lose your licence, not sure for how long. 3 years?
Mandatory driving ban and fine.It will depend on the persons income regarding the fine and the length of ban will be determined on the amount of alcohol. Now if there was any aggravating circumstances such as there being a minor in the car or if there was a crash then the crime is more serious and moves up to another bracket which could include a community sentence. The courts offer a 25% reduction of the ban imposed if a drink driving course is attended
hope this helps
Basically unless you are very lucky (or a famous footballer) it's a minimum 2 year ban from driving. and rightly so you irresponsible moron.
not high enough!! so while risk others lives and your own??
I got a twelve month ban, reduced to nine through attending a rehabilitation course, and a five hundred pound fine. That was eight years ago, though!
''Not Enough''
Don't think about the punishment, think of how to avoid it! I got a DWI in Florida a little over three years ago. I paid through the nose, in fines, court costs and probation fees. It would have been a WHOLE lot cheaper to take a cab. I'm still paying off credit cards, and working two jobs to do it. I've lost 40 pounds, I live in a garbage apartment, and have my car in someone elses name to afford the insurance. Don't even THINK about driving with a load on. It will ruin your life.
Not an answer, just to say I like the idea of those red and yellow plates mentioned above - I'd like to see that introduced here!
go read this . your not going to like it

uk - slap on the wrist plus 3 points on your liscence. Sorry if your not from UK, this wouldn't be much help!!
in UK it is a minimum of 12 month disqualification and usually £200 approx fine.
The fine is dependant on the reading..do you know what it was?
This is all depending on you being convicted of course. a good lawer might be albe to help. If it is a clear cut case you cna spare the cost of a lawyer. e mail me if you have any questions and good luck
Minimum of 18 months ban which is ridiculously lenient
12 month ban.
Usually a twelve month ban plus a fine, sometimes reduced by a couple of months if you attend an alcoholic abuse programme ordered by the court.
1 hell of a hangover.
I think it's 12 months ban and points off your licence. I'm not going to preach as what's done is done as we all make mistakes. Maybe it's not even you who have done the deed but if it is I hope you learn from this.
should be compelled to work in an emergency department at the local hospital for five (5) years, without pay, long hours, no holidays, and see just what drink and driving does. Assuming that the local A&E is still available.
not heavy enough
two year bain and court fines which could add up to £250
.12 month ban heavy fine
A lot of it has to do with how much over the alcohol limit you are and how is it that they caught you.
It is different if they get you on sobriety check point compared to speeding under the influence
.
Where I live:
2 months prison sentence
Loss of licence
To renew: after 2 years new tests
Reported to Social Services with interviews, etc.
It depends where you are.
In Northern Ireland the minimum punishment is:
Ban for 1 year
Re-take your test.
Restricted licence (have to display "R" plates, cannot exceed 45mph) for a year after re-passing the test.
The rest of the UK does not have restricted licences.
In Texas, you go straight to Jail ! .and pay a large fine.
depends how much over you were usually 100 to 150 pounds and a years driving ban also your licence will be endorced with ten points.
WHAT EVER IT IS IT SHOULD BE FOR LIFE NO EXCUSE WHAT SO EVER SORRY
MULTIPLE DEATHS possibly. That bad enough ?
Go to Jail.
