Been caught speeding, is it worth sending a grovelling letter ?

got caught 44 in 30, have six points already that have expired, just dont fancy any more ! is three the maximum ?

Answers:
You can challenge it but the risk is that if you lose you will face court
ack! i did 82 in a 65 zone and i got off with failure to signal. i surely couldn't fight this one even if i was ticketed with something else.
doubt it.
I have 'fast' cars, and drive them fast, but never in urban areas. There is a reason for the urban area limits, and all the while people like you, who can't learn their lesson, break these limits and cause accidents in town, the rest of us will suffer. A lot of 20mph zones have come into force near me over the last couple of years.
I NEVER break the urban limits. Result? Clean licence, low insurance, no accidents.

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for you.
i have heard of people getting offered to do a course in road safety like they do in the states in order to avoid the points , i don't know if 3 points is the maximum as it all depend s on how much over the limit you were doing
nah just pay the fine, or pay someone else to say they were driving your car, people do it all the time to avoid points on their licence, you just need a good mate to say they were driving your car, give him the fine money and something for taking your points.saves you getting banned and increased insurance costs
You don't say where you are but.in California this is a moving violation and a point against your license 4 points and one looses ones license for a year i think.here we are aloud to attend an educational class that takes up a complete Saturday and we lose the point it is quite a pain but so is no license.I believe one can only do this once a year.slow down babe!
It is worth more to learn how to drive at a reasonable speed.

There is that guy that gets the famous people off for speeding, cant think of his name at the moment. A letter wont have any affect i feel, as it will be a fixed penalty, 3 points
Yeah! Send one. The people in admin need a good laugh!
If you are i the UK,then you will probably get a fixed penalty notice for a fine of £60 and the 3 points on your licence.Best to pay up,because at 44mph,if you take it to court then you risk a much higher fine plus the possibility of upto 5 points added to your licence.I know this as i got caught doing 50 in a 30 and thought i was in serious ****,and i panicked even more when i got the notice of intended prosecution as i thought it meant it was going to court, but i filled it in and returned it reluctantly anyway as i didnt want to be in more doodoo. It was a relief when the fixed penalty came back,so i sent off a cheque and my licence..easiest way in my book.I was guilty and had to face the music
Letters don't work. The best thing to do is grovel to the cop who gave it to you. They often have the ability to put in a good word for you. Depending on the jurisdiction, you can sometimes get a lower fine if you pay prior to your court date.
..That guy is Nick Freeman.

Hope this helps.
Yeah totally,my ex got done for going through a red light, and was gonna lose his licence cos he hadn't been driving two years and already had points on it.He wrote a grovelling letter explaining how he needed the car to get to Uni so he could get a decent job and provide for his then unborn child and not only did they not give him points on his licence he also didn't even have to pay the fine jammy sod that he is.
Letter are a waste of time unless you can prove that the speed gun / camera wasn't working correctly . You will probably get the £60 fine and 3 points . Don't forget that even though under the "totting up" process points only count for 3 years but for insurance purposes they count for 5 years. Oh and all speed cameras should be blown up .
Just found this.. scroll down to bit about SP30

A good grovel about anything is always worth it.
Take it on the chin, a letter won't help they won't even read it. Unless you go to court that is.

I've learnt if you get pulled over shut up and listen, police hate cocky sportscar drivers and they love busting them

I got pulled over doing 92 in a 50 in my 360 stradale when it was 3 days old. The police were horrible for about 3 or 4 mins then they realised I was a normal guy and I was sorry. I got a ticket and nearly lot my license, but I ended up selling one of the policemen a subaru about 4 months later cos i gave him a car with my details on. www.IntroCars.co.uk
Visit and have a good look round this website.

Also get down the newsagent and buy the current MCN, (Motorcycle News) dated 30th August, before the new one's out on wednesday. There's an excellent article in there.
you may as well pay the fine im sure they will be a copper out there that needs a new pair of boots.
Your better off posting it to your self. All of the methods have been tried and tested, featured endless times in various car mags. Ive been in this situation twice my self you just get posted a reminder of fine, then a summons.
I HAVE NO SYMPATHY FOR YOU JERKS THAT ARE ALWAYS IN A HURRY. YOU JUST HAPPENDED TO GET CAUGHT DOING SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVE DONE 100 TIMES AND PROBABLY WILL DO ANOTHER 100 TIMES. TAKE YOUR PUNISHMENT AND SLOW DOWN FOOL!!!!!!!!!
Better just pay it, and SLOW DOWN!
