Why do men think they are better drivers than women?

As a man, I don't think it's true today. Better means safer, in my opinion, and I've been driving for more than 40 years.

well if u are talking abt following road rules.then women are better.i drive too..but i myself feel.men are definately better drivers.where control of the car is concerned..
I'm a woman driver and I think women generally are bad drivers, sorry but I think they are generally slower, have trouble parking and are generally a bit dopey. Maybe i should have been a man.I have been annoyed far more by women than men on the road. I drive a huge 4X4 and it takes me 10 seconds to park. Why does my neighbour in her Mini take 3 minutes? grrr
We don't think it, we know it. It's a fact. Women should have to take three tests to be allowed on the road and two of them should only cover how to pull out of a roundabout/junction in less than 3 hours.
it is called statistics. men are proven to be good with determining distance. and really good with directions.
we know we are good drivers. if we had an equal amount of male and female drivers, accident rate will not change. but the traffic will vertainly be much much slower.
just think what will happen if a woman will have a flat tire? that would require another driver to stop by.
and think about parking time?
women tend to drive less and often are out of practice parallel parking and judging distances etc. but men take a lot more stupid risks on the road which is why they have more accidents.

Since there are more male drivers on the road, statistically there will be more accidents made by men - think of all the taxi, truck and bus drivers that are men. Also, many female drivers use cars registered in their husbands’ name and insured by him, therefore, again, more male drivers will be ‘involved’ in accidents according to the numbers. The male / female distinction is a marketing ploy used by insurers, you have to work out a weighted average of accident numbers to be really fair.
No, women think they're better drivers than men. That's why their insurance is cheaper than ours. Men don't think "we are better". We know "we are" so the price of insurance for women is far lower to make them think "they are better". I'm a man, last time I looked, and I've only got 9 points on my licence, had 5 accidents in the last year and written off 3 cars since 2002.
Don't know about driving (though the insurance rates for women certainly suggest they are better drivers than men) but my wife is definitely better at parking. If the space is small I let her park the car as I can't!

Most women are preoccupied when the drive. They usually leave late, and therefore put there make-up on in the car. They cause a lot of accidents. I know from experience. I have 4 sisters, 3 niece who all drive and I see the same thing when I get in the car with them. That's why the majority of good drivers are men.
Don't get frustrated, this is only an impression men have because when women are driving they drive as if they’re alone on the road.

Men get all emotional when driving - evrything seems a challengle to their status, their "manhood", etc. Women (mainly) see the car as a means of getting from A to B, rather than some phallic extension, doubling as a statement of social success. I am a man, and firmly believe what you have said, that women are generally better drivers. Most men seem to want to drive with their c*cks, competing as to whose is bigger, better, faster, etc!
Men don't apply make up and brush hair while driving.
Ladies, the insurance companies will eventually raise your rates. I've seen on many occasions where women are speeding, changing lanes w/o signaling, go through red lights and stop signs, etc. Most of the time they have cell phones stuck to their ears. Women nowadays think they have to be overly aggresive in all situations so..it's only a matter of time when you will pay.
I was on I-75 in south Florida and I was driving 75 mph in a 65 mph area. This woman came up behind me and passed me. I trailed her to get her speed. I slowed after my speedo reached 90 mph. She was driving a Mustang convertable , top down, with 3 kids in it. Like I said, it's only a matter of time.
Not all men. I, for one, am happy to let the wife do the driving.

It's generally concerned with the level of damage created by each accident. Men do actually have better control of the car, but usually drive faster, so when a man has an accident it generally results in substantial damageto the cars involved.
Women, on the other hand, drive slower with less confidence, and due to the (normal) lack of distance perception the accidents they have are usually minor bumps that are by comparison cheap to repair (if work is needed at all).
I agree, women, on the whole, are much more courteous than men. Too many male drivers have a macho thing going when they get behind the wheel. If some women drivers have a fault it is that they appear not to think as far ahead, but I guess pleanty of men dont either, (just a particular grumble of mine).
Given the choice of a male or female chauffeur, go for the women everytime

I personally do because I saw my instructor -back when I was learning to drive I was assigned a female teacher- shriek and dive headfirst off the road because a truck flashed past her, about a hundred meters after dropping me off.
Apparently she was half asleep and was startled by the truck.
