Suicide, an everyday problem?
Again today some inconsiderate person decided to end their life by jumping onto the tracks in front of my train home from work delaying it by 4 hours. Just because their life is bad why must they make it harder for everyone else? I think a special suicide track at every station would be useful and they could save money by just clearing it out once a week.

Why delay the train? They can scrape up brains after the train has passed. That is stupid to delay the train.
I've thought of suicide a couple times, but never took it to the extreme. sometimes the solution is right before your eyes, ending it is, never and I repeat, never an option!
Although it is temping. no what am I saying. never!
I agree, a siding with a £10 suiscide levy would be a good proposition.
If you have to ask why then obviously your life isn't that bad.
just wondering wich planet you from..must be the train planet
i hope you know thats messed up that you would even consider something like that
Just now we just had an ambulance call that a 53 year old slit his wrists and was lying in the bath tub. How stupid are some people that they think death is better than life.
Just wonder where you live, cos some inconsiderate person did the same thing to me a few months ago in Norwich, if you gonna take your own life please do it consideratly and bloody dont upset every ones day, PHONE THE SAMARITANS NOW ARRRRGHH
Why waste money on a special suicide track when I could do it for them with a Glad Force Flex Trash Bag?
I could actually make a profit off of it too. Put an ad in the paper 'bring your own trash bags and 50 USD'
hey hey hey, very old old saying, but for the grace of god do i,one day you may feel like it. i hope you never do.good luck
Maybe he/ she couldn't taking living in this sh!tty world anymore..Inconsiderate ?? maybe he/she had way too many problems he couldn't get help with.If someone would have taking time outta there busy day to help this person out and to understand how he/ she felt about life , then his or her death could have been prevented. But there are people that only care for themselfs and to hell with everyone that doesn't effect you. How would you feel if it was your brother or sister would he or she still be inconsiderate ??
Suicide is a very personal thing that should not be trivialised. I grant you the method of execution (excuse the pun) could be improved upon.
A suicide track sounds an interesting idea, showever consider this; there will be a special place in hell for all of us sinners. Who are you to judge, don't worry I suspect we will sharing the journey down.
I'm sure there will be a delay.
I empathize. A buddy of mine was taking his family by train into the city for a nice evening: dinner, a concert, and the like.
at the train station, a suicide stuck his head forward. the body landed near my friend's son.
it wasn't a very nice night out after all.
love it, never took it to the extreme ??, how extreme do u get ? LOL, trains are good its instant, drugs you fall asleep and puke, and die from inhalling you own vomit, , join the army, bullets are good too !
Suicide, accident, stupidity; it doesn't matter. One more human scattered along the tracks.
I'm sorry you were delayed, especially on the ride home. But, you're very lucky.
The head end crew of that train may have been on their way home as well, and delayed even longer with reports to fill out when tie-ing up.
The difference is, you won't see "the look". The expression on a human beings face. A moment of surprise, followed immediately by the look of sheer terror. The look of someone who just realized that their date with eternity is now just a heartbeat away. It's always the same.
No, no one else will see that look. But the train crew will. Tonight and every time they try to go to sleep, for the rest of their lives. So, yes. Methodology is a concern, in addition to the selfishness of the act of suicide. Friends and relatives of the victim are dealing with it tonight as well, and will for quite some time to come.
Suicide is a decision. A grade crossing fatality is almost always 100% preventable, but the responsibility lies with the individual. In the US the carnage at grade crossings and amongst pedestrians increases every year, even with programs such as Operation Life Saver having been in place for twenty years or more. Statistically, someone winds up as a greasy spot of the front of a locomotive every 18 seconds.
Don't join the ranks of the dead. Look, listen and live. This applies even to crossings with warning or gates. They are NOT fail-safe. Your family will thank you, and the train crew will be eternally greatful.
what a good question. I totally agree with you. Could actually make some money out of special suicide track. Like ring side seats etc
Jumped or PUSHED? Never stand near the edge of the platform.
maybe that person was depressed any of you thought about that. instead of making rude remarks. i have really bad depression. if anyone has depression then they know how it feels.
Attempting suicide with a train is not always fatal.this past Thursday I had to inspect a locomotive that hit a individual, something I don't really look forward too by the way. zero damage to the locomotive, mostly we are looking for body parts. When I filled out my part of the incident report I noticed the individual was expected to survive, there was no mention of his/her condition but one can expect they will have some lasting damage.. I wish everyone who has or ever will consider suicide would remember this.suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary condition..things change and people change..
Having pulled body parts out of traction motors on locomotives, I can tell you that YES this is an everyday occurence..also- the families try to sue railroads when a loved one is killed in this fashion!
Most just get REALLY drunk, and lay down on the tracks.
An express lane for rail-suicides would be too expensive. YOu are looking at about 1 million dollars per mile of track.
Yep Plod should give priority to getting trains running, I blame gun laws, bloke up the road blew his brains out with a shot gun, messy but quick and no one was delayed, and an old lady hanged herself, again no delays so why does some no mark need to hit the headlines after death because the delayed the 17.56 semi fast to Tunbridge Wells. Of course Plod have to go through the motions but the stiff could have been tied to the track with welding wire and plod would not notice.
its also seems to be seasonal too higher around Christmas, new year and valentines, for obvious reasons, but you gotta think you have to be pretty desperate state of mind to do that, its the drivers i also feel sorry for as they are the ones that see them and know that going at top speed that they have no chance of stopping
