Does anyone out there know why we are putting up with with this rise in petrol prices?

we should have a 1 day strike when no body bought any, what do you think

Answers:
I'd like a repeat of the fuel protests but the Government have new powers under the anti terror legislation that mean we can't protest any more.

Makes you wonder who's working for whom?
It's been tried. Eventually we all have to use petrol. The government knows this and that's why they put 80% duties on it. We have no choice.
I think you'll find that's been tried before. It was a monumental flop. Nice sentiment tho .
Waste of time - we would just top up the day before or the day after.
well there is nothign you can do. America demands more oil than the rest of the world, however we produce very little. If you went a day with out buying any then there woudl be a fluctuation in prices. you would mess up teh oil companies delivery schedules and we woudl see a rise in prices because of that.

go buy a honda and stop complainign.
better idea- (not too many r willing to give up their cars even if is for a day like me) get e85 marketed everywhere!
I don't think a day would do much. You'd just buy more the next day. If you really want to impact the oil companies, how about a 6 month strike?
how would I receive my stuff from amazon, I think everyone should switch to Hydrogen fuel, it's cleaner
good idea but we all need it so we just put up with it.
Ummm..can't afford to..got a roof over my head to pay for.and we all did something similar 5 years ago.and for what?? Took weeks and weeks to get back to normal.and I ain't got the time to queue for hours for petrol!!

And with regards to putting up with it.I need petrol to get from A to B..so I don't have a choice in the matter!
No choice!
make the strike happen sooner rather than later because they are actually going down.
You would need to shut down vehicals for at least a week to have any impact on the oil companies but nobody has the balls to do it.
The rise in fuel prices is a minuscule part of the total price of a litre. Tax is the killer in this country,(UK) . The government should reduce the duty on fuel today. They could at a stroke knock 10p off a litre, but will they. Of course not.
That'll be why it WENT DOWN this week then..most retailers dropped it by up to 5p a litre.
do anything but try getting people to band together for a peaceful protest, they moan about it but do nothing and thats how brown gets away with the 70% odds tax he smacks on fuel
the real answer to your question is one that most wasteful americans don't want to ponder! we need to conserve more and learn top live more modestly. i drive an 06 toyota matrix xr five-speed. it gets 40 mpg. still many of my friends feel that they must drive those ostentatious suvs getting 10 mpg so that they can feel that they are living the "AMERICAN DREAM". i choose to live below my income and i am much happier for it. i am an engineer and a self-proclaimed efficiency nut. unfortunately i am a rare breed, because most of my neighbors still can't break their addiction to wastefulness!! stop waiting for others to help you and be proactive. turn your frustration into action and be richer and happier knowing that you are doing more than just bitching about something!!!
My next car is going to be a diesel that I can convert into a bio diesel !
i agree but don't think it will work cos twice as many people would buy fuel the day after. I'm mad about it but we cant do anything about it. now the government are thinking of charging 6X the road tax for people who drive 4X4. I don't even drive a 4X4 but I think that would be so unfair. This country is going to the dogs. If I could I would move to America next week.
Once upon a time even an american car company made an electric car that was suitable for most people. The oil companies pay to have them destroyed.

No, but what do you suggest we do about it? Petition, walk to downing street, blockade? Mr Blair is not interested, he doesn't care! So what can we do..pray? I'm all ears, because if you have a suggestion, I'll help you.
dont have an answer for this, as far as i see it people will just keep paying until they can no longer afford to fuel the car.
the last strike suceeded in causing total chaos but also cost people like me even more money as we got laid off as there was no fuel to carry out business
I decided to use public transportation to get to work everyday. It saves me money on gas, insurance, car payment, etc. Plus if you plan it right it only take just a little bit longer.
