How fast above the speed limit can i drive without getting done for speeding?
Answers:
for safety the answer is zero
I have heard 10% to allow for different cars but if your car already goes 10% over and then you drive 10% over you will get a ticket, better safe then sorry
In Ohio, it is usually safe to go no more than 5 mph over the speed limit. Of course, a cop can ticket you for 1 mph over the speed limit if he wants to.
That is also what I have heard. 10% is to allow for some variance in the speedo's because no to cars are the same.
depends on the officer/camera some are at the speed limit, some 10% and a lot are 10% plus 3. so 50mph would be 58.however a speed limit is call the limit for a reason so how about just sticking to it and you know you wont get tickets
i fort it was something 5 above was the safety zone.
Generally, it's thought to be 2mph +10%
But watch it - there's no standard, so different camera partnerships may give different tolerances..!
Your speedo will generally over-read, so drive to that, and I'd say you'd be pretty much OK
I attended a speed workshop a few months back, and the camera's will allow you to do 10% + 2 and still be ok, this allows for margin of error in the speedometer and camera!
I know someone who got done for doing 33mph in a 30 zone - maybe they are more tolerant in the higher limits but I wouldn't risk it in a built up area
..when went to class to get my license the teacher was a retired trooper and he said if they were going any faster than 9 miles over the speeding limit he would pull them over..
actually its 3%. and that is for overtaking manouvers.
going fast is a doddle, we can all do it. but can you stop in time? have you any idea how far you travel at a given speed. 60 is 88feet per seconds, 120 is 166FPS, 30MPH is 44 FPS 240MPH is 332FPS (110 yards, or 5 cricket pitches per second)
In the UK for speed cameras it is generally 10 miles over the speed limit. If you do 11 you get flashed. You are allowed to go 5MPH over when overtaking so you won't get flashed for that
I heard that it was 4mph, so your 10% theory would be about right (44 in a 40 zone). Also heard that car speedos are already a little high, so stick to that and you're safe. I was once caught doing 36mph in what I thought was a 40 zone but it turned out to be a 30 - argh!
ZERO!!
IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OUT SPEEDING OVER THE STATED LIMIT...BEWARE.
Dont u think that prats like you have caused enough deaths?!?!
the speed limit is there for a purpose. wot next? how many pints over the limit can i drink and still drive home? i hope u get locked up before you hurt someone.
The rule of thumb is 4mph plus 10% for mobile coppers.
This of course goes out of the window if you are in Wales (0% tollerance) Gatzos in most major cities are also 0%
Slow down matey.. you can look at all the crashes better!
Legaly, none at all, I had a friend who was find for speeding at 73mph in 70 zone
it depends on the state and the officers mood.. they can legally pull you over for 1mph over and if they just feel like checking you out they will do that. for general traffic, in my state 1-9mph over is under the dame category so even if you are driving 29 in a 20 it's te same ticket as a 59 in a 50.. but you'll always get pulled over in the slower zones here (usually they are school zones so they are heavily enforced) the general rule i go by (and I've never had a speeding ticket in 12 years of driving) is that i drive no more than 4mph over in towns, 7 mph over on the highway and 10 mph over on the interstate. again this is what i do in my state.. when i drive threw states other than my own that i know there will be a lot of state troopers in i tend to drop each of those values by 2-3 mph just because the out of state tags scream "pull me over!"
its meant to be 0 tolerance but in reality you should get away with you spedo saying 75 (spedos always read over what actual speed your doing)
i speed everyday in the mornings aprox 120mph sometime 140mph, i have done for 4 years the key is to keep your eyes open for the the filth cameras
Legally speaking even 1mph over the speed limit can get you a ticket.
Speed limits are imposed for a reason not just for the hell of it.If you want to drive fast go to a race-track.Most of them have open days.
It's about 10% over, but it really depends on your luck, a mate of mine was given 3 points and a fine for doing 35mph in a 30 at 02:30 a couple of years back. I think the static cameras are set with a max just over the 5% mark, but if you get a traffic cop on a bad day then there might not be even any % over the limit.
( But Always ask for a copy of the calibration Cert for the Gun that caught you)
By law the speed limit as stated on the road sign is the legal limit you are permitted to travel at.
Anything above that limit is classed as speeding.
But think about this, I am driving within the speed limit of 40mph and you drive past me at 44mph, you are breaking the law and I am not, yet at the first set of traffic lights you come to, I will be right behind you. Which means you broke the law to be1 cars length in front of me.
Personally I don't see the point of your speeding, plus should you hit someone you will injure them more than I would.
if it is a camera it will depend on the setting on it some are set dead on the limed and others you can get away with 10% more than the limed. so thus if you are travailing at 50 you can do 55. the only way to find out how they are set is to drive past and and see at Wat speed they go of and if it goes you will find out. but if you know were they are you can go as fast as you like just slow down to speed limit in that area.
In the UK.
10% + 2mph is the normal POLICE margin.
HOWEVER the 'safety camera partnerships' have their own set of ideas.
And remember it's NOT what your SPEEDO says - it's the REAL mph they take.
More like three percent, this is to allow for speedometer discrepances, do not rely on any so called allowance, you speedo may be under reading already! time it yourself, 1 mile motorway marker at 70mph= 51.5 seconds collates at 69.9mph.
Do not forget that tyres expand with heat and there will be a difference to the recorded speed as would fitting larger tyres/wheels.
0 mph. Sorry. I got rumbled doing 33mph in a 30. 3 Points and a £60 fine. Lovley.
in the uk you can normally drive at 10% above the stated speed limit before getting a tug, although this is not advisable due to police trying to hit targets you will probably get done for being 1 mph over the limit.
