On UK m'way bridges I have seen what appear to be small cameras in a blue or green casing. What are they for
Answers:
They are used by the TrafficMaster system to gauge how busy a rout is. When someone pops their route into a satnav or other similar system that uses traffic master it can tell you the best route based on how well traffic is moving in certain areas, i.e. if the traffic in a location is moving slower than the speed limit it will advise a route that avoids that are if it is quicker to do so.
They are deffinately not cctv and are not used to check the holograms on tax discs.
Aren't they Trafficmaster? There are some near where I live so I've gone and looked at them. They say that they are Traffic master NOT speeding.
they are a system that is operated by Trafficmate (?) which monitors the average speed of traffic on the road and gives warning to drivers who have the system in their car of congestion ahead
they're traffic master cameras monitoring traffic flow
cctv
they are trafficmaster- this system allows people to find routes that are moving freely
to check u are not going over the speed limit,(70mph)
they also check road tax discs thats why the disc has a silver hologram on them
I find it hard to believe that they're there for reading the holograms in tax discs! So when it's raining, or they are obscured with a wiper blade or something?? Just how can a static camera tell if the hologram is correct? The holograms are purely there to stop people "copying" them physically - so forgeries are obvious. It's far easier for someone to type in the number plate into the DVLA computer to check if your car is insured and taxed.
They are for Traffic master systems to till you of hold ups on the roads so you can find another route.

They are definitely cctv and are used to check the holograms on tax discs.
For security reasons I will not reveal all the possibilities. Just remember that most bridges main city bridges are high security risks.
Boaz.
