How much petrol is left when warning light comes on in a Ford focus 1.8 lx petrol (2002)?

i have a 06 ford focus 1.4 and when the red warning light comes on can go for another 120km before i run out (not that i ever done it but my uncle is a mechanic)
About enough for 40 miles, I think. (Roughly).
My other half is the car wizard. He says about 25-30 miles worth. I'm not about to find out! When I get to a quarter of a tank left.I head to the petrol station!!
