How much shorter is the M25 inside anticlockwise lane than the inside clockwise lane?
Answers:
Using some simple matematics and a bit of averaging:
Length of M25 = 118 miles
Using Circumference =pi Diamer then
Average diameter = Circumference / Pi = 37.56 Miles
Standard lane width = 12 feet
Assuming 12 foot for the central reservation and three lanes all the way round then the outer central lane is 48 feet greater in diameter than the inner central lane.
5280 feet in a mile, 48 feet =
Extra distance round the outside = 48 *2 * pi = 301 Feet
Buts is probably a bit more due to the four lane sections and roadworks.
I haven't a clue, but thumbs up for an excellent question.
8 miles
