Where could I live that is commuting distance to both Guildford and London?

My friend and I want to get a flat together but are having trouble because I work in London (near Kings Cross) and she works in Guildford- I need to get the train and she needs to drive. Niether of us want a long horrible journey to work. Is there anywhere we would both be happy?

Answers:
Kingston upon Thames, Sutton, Croyden, Cobham.
Basingstoke?
There are some nice villages near the A3 such as New Haw and surrounding area. Guildford 15 minutes away.
Commuting the "wrong way" on the A3 is great. All you need to find is somewhere near the A3 that gives you a good journey to Kings Cross, like Morden perhaps, on the southern end of the Northern Line. That should give journeys of 30-40 mins for both of you.
Well,. mon Yahoo ami.
I lived in Northumberland, a splendid place Now living on a narrowbout with a couple of laptops. However .
Lovely beaches & castles, and away from the likes of commuting to Kings X & via Thameslink, a walk across Blackfriars Bridge, to the office.
I just got fed up with it all.
As for Guilford, and dare I say the likes of Croydon. etc.
Why put up with the places, when there are so many lovely alternatives ?
All the best,
Bob the Boat
