Well, if you can pay for the repairs at a good garage/coachbuilders, and trust me from damage you describe it won't be cheap (I'm a mechanic) the insurance need never know. However, depending on how long your policy has to run, what about selling your car as scrap (effective write off) and transferring policy to a new vehicle (even a cheap runaround). If police were involved then slightly different, think they will have had to check with your insurance to ensure you have some, so they will already know.
If you haven't hit anybody and the police wheren't informed don't tell your insurance and sell your car in back of the autotrader. You should get a better price for your car,the insurance company would probally write it off,and they wouldn't give you much for it.
they will most likely deem this an at fault accident for poor maintenance on your vehicle unless the tire was defective. Do you know if the tread was really worn down or if it was new? Sometime extreme heat can remove tire tread. If the tire was new then you might have a chance that it was determined to not be your fault. If the tires were worn down and nearly bald, they will most likely deem you at fault and your rates will increase.
as no one else involved scrap and transfer insurance to another vehicle
