How many combinations of car registration plates in UK are made per year or half year?

I'm after the statastic of how unique a car registration plate is compared to other unique facts.

Answers:
well lets see. how many letters are used in the first 2 letter things. I know that these represent the regestration place.. or something eg/ preston has PE, PN, PO so you need to see how many of those there are. Times that number by 26, then by 26 again and finally by another 26. If we assume that the other 2 letters are 'random' and we use all combinations (which I don't think we do. but whatever) then the total would be 26 to the power of 5. which is 11,881,376 so yeah!
That depends upon the number of vehicles first placed in service during the year or half year. Two plates per vehicle. Every registration number is unique, for reasons that should be obvious.
