How do you sell a personalised number plate on?

Answers:
Look for sites like 'cherished numbers' or look in the Exchange and MArt - theres lots of ad's in there for companies that deal in private plates. You can either sell it through them on commision or get a rough idea of price and advertise it privately. xxx
ebay
either advertise it on ebay or see if you can sell it to the dvla
..leave it on the car & charge them a little extra for it - if it's desirable.
try Loot newspaper
First, make sure you actually own the plate. In some states the plate is yours and you can transfer it to another car, or sell it. In others it is assigned to, and stays with the car.

(For example, 55 CHEVY wouldn't be right on a Toyota)

I'm afraid you cannot sell a personalised number plate yourself you have to go through the DVLA in morriston as you did to buy the number plate in the first place.
there is a licencing body for all the number plates registered in the UK, get in touch with customer inquirers with the DVLA and they will give you the correct information because if you sell it privately and don't inform them the new owner could be caught speeding and you will still be the owner of that number plate so you get the fine and penalty points on your licence.
There are many ways to sell the number - ebay, privately to someone you know, or through an agency (they advertise in the motoring press and Sunday papers).

To tranfer the number to the person you've sold it to, you'll need the documents (V5c registration document, and MOT certificates if the car is over 3 years old) for both cars - the one the plate is coming off and the one it is going too - and the relevant DVLA form, filled in a signed by both the buyer and the seller. Send these to the DVLA, or take them to your local office, along with the £80 transfer fee. The buyer should pay this fee.
See http://www.direct.gov.uk/motoring/buying.

If you use an agency to sell the number, they'll help with the forms (although you still have to sign them).
