How long does it take to lose no claims bonus on car ins? I havent driven for a while but did have full n/c.?
Answers:
I think it varies with different insurance companies.
You may have had an obligation to tell them when you stopped driving the car
2 Years
depends on the carrier I would think
less than a second after you hit the front drivier up the a*se
It is 3 years usually
But if you can get a letter of proof to say that you worked for a company with a company car.then the time limit becomes exempt. (thats the way round it)
I had full NCB,I was off the road for 2 years,
The insurance companies would not recognise my NCB,
I had to start again.
Once you or the other party claim against your insurance company
My insurance company will take three years
It depends on the underwriter. As a general rule you would lose your NCD if you have not been a policy holder for 3 years. Some Companies will go above the 3 year limit some below.
I always thought it was 2. Maybe wrong though.
There is no hard and fast ruling on the time limit it is up to the insurance provider to decide. You may be well advised to use a previous insurer, they may look more favourably at your previous no claims bonus. For cheaper insurance rates opt for £s excess and limited mileage if you drive infrequently.
