Im picking up my new car today. Should i sort out the insurance when i get back or do i need to do it now so?

im covered for the journey home?

Answers:
It will depend on the laws in your area, and if you are trading in a car with insurance that you are going to transfer. I would make sure that you have the insurance handled before you take delivery of the vehicle. It is better to be sure!
What makes you think you are covered for the journey home? Get insurance NOW
ah dud i would get insured before you leave because you might get into an accident
Now is always better, you can always make changes to your decision later, if you don't lock yourself into any agreements.
If i was you get your car insured now, you don't want problems later, anything can happen god forbid
If you have full coverage insurance now you have five days. If not call your insurance company as soon as you have the Vin# vehicle identification 17 digit number. The dealer and lender will both need proof of insurance.
the car place wont let you take it home if you're not insured.
Arrange your insurance as soon as you know the registration number of the new vehicle
You can get your insurance company to issue you with a cover note and you must do this before you pick up the car. It is your responsibility, if anything happens and you are not insured you would be in deep trouble.
Do it now stupid or your insurance will treble if you get caught
Do it now and save the hassle that you might get when you pick the car up from the seller.
why not sort it out now. When you've got the new car you'll be distracted and go out and play tonight.

You might forget the insurance.
It's against the law to drive without insurance in most states.

Contact the company and get a temporary I.D. The coverage will start as soon as you request it. (Of course, if you don't pay the bill, any coverage would be voided.)
You can't leave the car lot without insurance coverage - it's illegal. Take care of it now. They'll fax a temporary insurance card to the dealership so it'll be there when you arrive.
Do it later, what are the chances of getting caught or having an accident?
Be Sure, INSURE.
All car dealerships will NOT let you drive off og the lot, with-out insurance, what if there is an accident? you are then stuck with making the car payments as well as getting it fixed, who knows if the other drive is insured? Better Safe Than Sorry.
You need to do it now, before you journey home.. If you wreck it your through..
If you are purchasing from a dealership you are always required by law (in Michigan) to have insurance before you take delivery. If you are financing you should be required to carry full coverage by the financial loan company.Just have your Insurance company fax a binder to the dealer. Hope this helps. Enjoy your new car dude!
Did you ask your agent? If they said your bound, should be fine until you get your proof of insurance cards. Binding only works for a day or two before you need paper proof for an officer. Immediately go to your agent and have them give you some kind of proof.
Your insurnace needs to be in place on the new vehicle before you take it on the road. You could always casll your insurance company, give them details of your new vehicle and you will be covered immediately if you are just changing your existing car.
Get Insured Now! You Never Know What Could Happen On The Way Home Insured Or Not
What is insurance?
i would have gotten the insurance dealings in place before hand. I wouldnt drive the car off the lot w/o insurance just in case something might happen.
Call your agent. You can't drive without insurance, and you may or may not be covered. If you have traded in a vehicle and had insurance on that one, perhaps you are covered until you can get to the office and make the changes. If it's not replacing another vehicle, then it gets iffy. Don't take the chance, do it now.
Arrange it now to come into effect the day you are picking the car up. I tried to arrange mine once after I had paid for a car but before I drove away and not only did it use up loads of my mobile phone credit it also took ages. Do not leave it until you get your new car home becuase if you crash or get pulled over by the Police on the way home you will not be covered.

I hope you enjoy your new car
the insurance should have sorted out first, because a cover note only last for so long, and it is not a good idea to be travelling around in an uninsured car. how will you road tax the car if you have no insurance.

when i change my car i always inform the insurance company, before i drive the car away, then there is no way i can forget to insure the car.
If you have a standard insurance company such as State Farm or Allstate you are actually covered for the first 30 days without even reporting the vehicle. However the dealership may require proof of insurance before leaving the lot. Purchasing a car is already a process so if your not with a standard company you need to add the vehicle prior to picking it up and make sure they fax the dealership a copy of your declaration page or temporary id
You better get it before you pick up the car.
You have to be insured to drive that car. If you are insured already on another vehicle you may be covered via a third party extension where you are insured to drive other vehicles third party only.
If you don't already have insurance you need to get something set up. Most big insurers can start policies instantly so when you pick it up you can start it then. Call a few insurers and see what they say.
