Car reg checks i stayed in a tesco carpark overtime?
question have they the police to check
my address from the dvlc if not i thought

Tesco are actually a really powerful organisation. They have Insurance, mobiles etc. etc.. They have access to pretty much all databases the police can access. Did you know they monitor via CCTV and face recognition software how many times you visit a certain store? Scary stuff, one of the only real 'big brother state' organisations around at the moment.
They can tell because they do car insurance, anyone else would have to pay 30 odd quid. Every little helps!
Its true. go on line to an insurance firm and get an on line quote, one of the first things it will ask for is the reg of the car, pick one from the street outside and the make and model will pop right up on the screen, they do insurance so they know the registered keeper.
Thats a scary question, I also thought only the police or a government body could find this out, just how powerful are Tesco? I look forwards to reading the answers.
Anyone can apply to the DVLA to trace the registered keeper of a vehicle if they have an "interest" in it.
Tesco have an interest because it was parked on their property. It only costs £3.50 and you get sent the registered keeper's name and address

no the police would not do checks for tesco or anyone else ..vehicle checks are only done for crime or road traffic matters not private carparks etc .as one of the other answers states anyone with a legitmate reason can apply for the details .
