“It is important to wear suitable shoes when you are driving. Why is this?
Answers:
Because if you wear silly footwear like flip flops they can get caught under the pedals and cause you to not be able to brake and therefore smash your car straight through someone elses kitchen wall. which is what happened to my friend. It was his kitchen wall, he wasnt the one driving.
So you have control over the pedals!
So your feet stop on the pedals
Not sure, I drove in 4" heels last night and was fine.
so you are in control of the pedals
in case the driver before you trod in some dog s.h.i.t
well you hve to wear suitable shoes its obvious i mean if you wearing like 12inch heels while driving and your heel got caught. Smack Bang you have crashed and in hospital. but if your wearing a sensiable flat shoe, nothing would get caught would it.. maybe a shoe lace but yeah.
This is very important because go out in your car know and go 30 and do a emergency brake in your flip flops or sandals and then you will know you have to have proper control when driving.
lol
i hope you're kidding
so that you can feel the pedals properly and press them fairly accurately.
just a guess ;)
cos u dont wanna get them caught under the pedals or slip off them if you need to stop suddenly. Just think about your life and other peoples each time you get in your car.
try driving in high heals its virtually impossible and can be a problem when changing pedals and if you have to walk far ha ha
If you wear heals which are abit too high they can get caught behind the pedals and you could lose control. If the soles are too think, they could also stop you feeling the pressure from the pedals.
Do you really need to ask this?!?
I think that is referring to shoes that may get in the way and make it hard to tell how much pressure you are putting on the pedals. Like heels and platform shoes. These are more difficult to drive in. Also, some big slippers would get in the way of the pedals and possibly be dangerous.
so your feet dont slip of the pedals, you would be a danger if they did
Probably for contoll and grip on the pedals.
But i would listen to me i always drive with no shoes on. lol
It is illegal in NJ to drive barefoot or sandaled, if your foot has ever slipped off the brake pedal when you are driving 60 mph toward stopped traffic, you will instantly understand!nice research, oklatom.I should have said, it is unsafe. Thanx!
so your shoes dont get stuck in the pedals
Actually, you should, and all the answers you have gotten so far are correct in that assessment. But, surprisingly, it isn't written into the law. Everyone will tell you "It's illegal to drive barefoot." but in reality, that is Urban Legend, and no state has that written into law.
But, and here's the kicker, if you are in an accident and were driving barefoot, that will be one of the things that could make the accident your fault, or you can actually get a ticket for:
* $21-901(a) Reckless driving vehicle in wanton and willful
disregard for the safety of persons and property; or
* $21-901(b) Negligent driving vehicle in careless and
imprudent manner endangering property, life and person.
because you didn't have proper footwear.
One person actually researched all 50 states about laws against driving barefoot, and found there were no laws against it. His web presence on the subject is here: http://web.archive.org/web/2003061810502.
Blessings.
