I have a paper driving licence is this out of date? If it is will i get into trouble with the police?
Answers:
Yes, you need to send it in to DVLA and get the new photograph type.
It is only out of date if you have had any changes ie address, name, points, medical problems etc.
So, in your case.yup!
Just send it off with your changes and a photo and you'll get a nice spanking new one back
Oh dear.
Get a new one ASAP.. If the police stop you there's going to be a big old fine for a licence with the wrong name and wrong address.
They are still paper as far as I know and you get a little ID card with it that you never use. At least thats what I have
In short, no you wont get into trouble with the police although they dont take too kindly if it's all ripped up and falling apart. Having said that, you say you moved house and got married, this is technically illegal to not notify the dvla of this, and if stopped by the police they will penalise you for this, how, i dont know. When i took my driving test, although i had a photo licence, i had moved away from home for uni, and i was refused a test on the basis that my licence was incorrect.
If you are British, your licence runs until you are 70, so it won't be out of date, however, you will be in trouble as you are required by law to report house moves and changes of name, you must do this right away, and you will need to apply for a photocard licence now. You would have no problem with a paper licence is nothing had changed, unless you wanted to hire a car anywhere, but because of the house move and name change, you could be in bother
If you had not moved there would have been nothing wrong as your licence is valid until 70 years of age (unless you have additional vocational licence groups on it such as LGV or PCV)
By moving you have been slightly naughty, you are supposed to notify DVLA immediately.
Get the form from the post office, get a photo done, pay the fee.
I doubt you will be in any bother, unless you have already been pulled by the police with a requirement to produce
Not in England, just send it in to the DVLA in Swansea and they will lumber you w. a new photo one. My last move 15 years ago I got one of the last paper ones after not having changed the address in 8 moves over 10 years and they didn't hassle me, and it was free because they were still just paper. I miss our X freedoms already.
Does it say on the paper if it's out of date? Surely it has an expiry date.
