Are you able to M.O.T a car without a vics test?

i have bought a car thats been in an accident the person tells me it has been M.O.Ted but needs a vics test is this true.

Answers:
contact the DVLA helpline and they will advise you about the specific car you have bought
you are rather stupid to buy a car in that situation, it may well NOT be roadworthy, it may have been written off, but then reapired and now is illegal, could be two cars that have been in accidents and now welded together. You should have insisted that the seller sort out that problem BEFORE parting with any money, If it's a private sale, and the car can't be legally registered, then you have no legal comeback, and will ahve lost your money
Only if it was an insurance total loss.

DVLA will advise you on line or by phone.

The also publish on line all the details od VIC centres in the country.
I once bought a car that had an MOT before it got written off and the MOT was still valid so it is possible.Think it has to be a certain class of write-off though.
