Is it illegal to have the inside light of a car on whilst driving? if not illegal is it unsafe?
Answers:
My car has a small spot light that shines straight down into the passenger well - i do not even notice its on - (which is why I have ran the battery flat once). Suggest a small map reading light for your child may be what you need - I notice some people do not read the whole question!
If you are drinking a beer and smoking a joint?? I'd turn the light off.
illegal? possibly unsafe.yes because its a distraction to you or other drivers
telephone your local driving test center, (It is an unsafe practice from my experience) but they can confirm this for you.
I don't know if it's illegal or not, but I don't do it because I've found that it does adversely affect my vision, making it harder to see the road and the traffic.
Check the highway code, its defo unsafe but im not sure if its illegal
yes i think its unsafe
Its illegal and unsafe for oncoming traffic especially at night obviously.
Have you ever tried looking out of your living room window when you have the light on and it is dark outside. You can't see a bloody thing. Albeit to a lesser degree with your car light on, that's the reason.
No, that is in no way illegal, however, at night, it generally makes it a lot harder to to make good use of your rear view mirror. Also your eyes will be automatically less focused on the road and cars *outside* where they should be because of the light inside, plus your pupils will become less dilated, making it more difficult to detect things outside in the dark.
So, no it is not illegal, but yes, in my opinion it is definitely not safe. I mean, why would you need it on anyway?
I've never heard of the legality of the driving with the dome light on. But, it can be unsafe. If it is really dark outside, the dome light can on can turn all the windows in the car into a mirror, making visibility near to none.
It is not illegal, but it could be unsafe because it could be a distraction and you can't see out so well.
it's unsafe as it impedes your vision if the outside is dark.
I don't think it is illegal, but very unsafe. It causes a glare on the windscreen making it difficult for the driver to see.
i dont know if it is illegal. didnt think of asking that question during my driving lessons. but from experience, i find it disturbing, cos sometimes i dont notice cars approaching from behind, making it unsafe.
It is illegal.
and , just to clear up matters, if it was 'just' unsafe, you could be nicked for it, anyway, because 'driving in an unsafe manner' is up to the policemans discretion.
It is unsafe because light will refect off the windscreen and make it harder to see outside, and it will also affect your night vision
In Malaysia, it is not illegal to have your interior lights on while you are driving, as long as it is not too bright, sort of disco-techque style and moving lights.
However, it is not recommended to have your light on while you are driving, as people who passes by or on the roadside will not feel good if they see you doing something in your car, ie counting stacks of dollar bills, picking your nose/ears, hugging your partner(people might stare at how your partner looks like, and that is annoying).
Defo not safe. Illegal not to sure
it's not illegal
for the driver, it may be unsafe
depending on how much reflective glare it produces on the windows
and whether or not that glare
prevents the driver from seeing the road properly
in poor weather conditions
heavy fog, for instance,
a light inside the vehical cab
will help other drivers on the road
locate your vehicle
and prevent a run-in
however,
lights inside the vehicle
may shine on something
particularly interesting to the driver
(money, smokes, skin)
and distract his attention
from the business
at hand
--DRIVING!
sheesh
If you have to have a light on inside your car. Replace the bulb with a red light. Right light won't affect your night vision as much.
Why are you scared of the dark.
I don't think it's illegal, but it's not recommended. Having the light on in darkness, could create reflections on the windscreen causing confusion and the possibility of reduced vision of the road ahead.
as far as i know it is illegal, try using a small map light as i dont think they are though
its pos becouse the itereor light lights the whole car and reflects off the windows and a map light is a directional light that only lights a small spot
