Do people still pick up hitchhikers ? Would you ?

Answers:
I don't know if they do, but i wouldn't. You never know what weirdos are out there.
Some do but i never have and never would.U hear too many horror stories these days!
I dont know what others do but I would never do that..
possibly
I wouldnt. I had to explain the concept of hitch hiking to my 9 year old. She thought it was a great way to travel as its free. I did soon explain to her that it wasnt!
no way.. with my luck i would pick up a right fruitcake
yes, its much easier than going out and hunting for my prey. kind of like meals on wheels.
i will pick them up, not all the time though, i once picked 3 men up in my van and they were illigal immagrants and i took them to the police station locked in the back of my van and i got rewarded for it
Last Picked one up a couple of years ago, he turned out to be a right fruit loop going on about how he could talk to ghosts and manipulate peoples auras with crystals.
Leave them to walk now
yea, i would never.. but i feel bad when i pass some people. but you never know these days.

and basically everyone has a cell phone, AND they could always just walk to the nearest gas station phone or pay phone.

i'm a young female, so i would never pick up a hitchhiker, even if they were a woman. and that being said, i also would never get in the car with someone who tried to pull over and help me..
i'm not skinny, but i'm not a 6'5'' UFC fighter either!

i keep my phone with me at all times!
NEVER
the last time i picked up a hitchhiker i was so paranoid that i freaked him out, telling him that i was quite 'handy' which i'm not, and that he should just keep quiet and not mess.he got out after 20 miles!
god no

knowing my luck i'd get a total psycho
Never, not in this day and age
I did once, well this woman asked me if I was going near somewhere when we came out of a train station, it was dark and there were no taxis. I said yes, but was a bit paranoid in the car in case she went psycho on me!
I'd pick up a woman possibly, the guys always scary and big and shifty.
I used to years ago but I`m afraid now it would have to be very exceptional circumstances that would make me pick up a hitch-hiker..its just too dangerous.
I picked up a guy the other day he was a trucker who truck had been in a blaze in the south of France and he had hitched all the wayfrom there it had taken 3 days to reach N.Yorkshire and he had still to go on to Scotland, he said the French authorities had been extremely helpfull in getting him as far as they could, but when he got to England they couldnt care less and where no help at all
I do if i have someone else in the car ..xx
I don't think people do as much as they used to cause there are alot more ignoraineses about!
To be honest i wouldn't though!
I do speak to strangers though and say hi, why can't ppl make the effort to say hi and be friendly- ignorainesses!
Yes I do. But you don't see many these days.
Depends on what SHE looks like (alot of strange ladies out there).

Seriously though, there is alot of paranoia out there. Should we all not be a little more trusting and community spirited. I pick up hitchers if I have room and have never found them anything but nice and interesting. Obviously you have to be careful, I'd not pick up several people and you have to use your common sense, but come on people; how mean can you be?
i do but i live in the country and there are no buses or taxis between our villages mostly no them or see them around
I would pick up a woman as long as she didn't look too rough but generally no. It would depend on the circumstances I suppose.
I still hitch from time to time and it depends what part of the country (UK) that you are in as to whether people will pick you up.

Down in Cornwall they will during summer season plenty of lifts off surfers that is possibly the best time and place. The worst place is Luton never been picked up there once.

You often get picked up by people who have hitched themselves and you are more likely to get picked up if you are with a girl or at least one other person. People tend not to pick up lone hitchers.

You are also less likely to get picked up if you have not shaved or look particually scruffy. People are generally pretty generous and they buy you food, give you ciggarettes and are generally quite nice.
My friend is a continental lorry driver. He was in america driving down a long dark road when there was a report on the radio of a psycho killer roaming around the area he was in. It was pitch black, there was no one for miles when suddenly he saw a hitch hiker on the road. He was shitting his pants but picked the guy up anyway. Turns out, the hitch hiker thought my friend was the psycho. Its a better story when my friend tells it..sorry, i did my best.

Just to let you no, i would never pick up a hitch hiker cuz you just never no..!
I drive a moped (motor scooter) on a Greek island. Of course, I pick up any singles looking for a lift. Unless they are old people carrying large parcels.
I have noticed, however, that when I want a lift it takes longer now than it did 7 years ago when the island had half the population.
I used to do it all the time, as I sometimes had to hitch a lift myself on a few occasions. Wouldn't do it now though, I might pick up women, as they are in the minority. Few women hitchhike for obvious reasons
Yes . Used to, ( still very occasionally )hitch my self so what goes around comes around.

Applying some logic If you where a crazed killer:

Option 1 Stand by the side of the road for hours on end in any weather on the off chance that you can over come who ever picks you up?? and they are the type of person you want to attack.

Option 2 Leave your house (shelter whatever) and attack the first victim that fits the profile you are going for.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!.
you dont know if it might be a psycho or serial murderer
or something scary, ware wolf.
No I would not. Those days have unfortunately gone forever personal safety is now more of an issue.
