Is it possible to drive a speed boat from uk to usa by a novice?
Answers:
No idea, but if you are going to attempt it , you have more balls than me lol
Possible yes..Likely no.Too risky and dangerous for a novice
Nope, use the steering wheel mate!
Possibly - I doubt unless you had a big, big fuel tank.
Unadvisable - definately. Don't do it. High Speed Motor Boats are not designed for sustained days long activity.
It depends on how much fuel it can carry. Plus youll need to know when the best weather conditions are available
Anything is possible, but i wouldn't chance it if i was a novice!
man are you serious??if it wouldnt risk the people that will have to search for you i would say go ahead you really shoulnt own a boat!!good luck on trip!!
I suggest you take QE2, much safer and comfortable. Unless you are tired of life.
It may be possible but it isn't a smart idea. :-) Ever see "The Perfect Storm"?
That would be very dangerous! To make a trans Atlantic crossing you need a great deal of knowledge, experience and a proper boat or ship to travel in. A speed boat is generally small and has a limited range, making it a poor choice for such a long and hazardous voyage.
you could try but the crossing woul be dangerous as motor boats aren't designed for use in the middle of the sea, the motor boat would proabably keep capsising because of the waves in the sea(if they were bigish)
You need to have it properly kitted out first with radio / sat nav etc. and why UK to USA, most people making challenging crossing go the other way to take advantage of currents, wave direction, winds. I think you would have to undergo some seamanship training to at least know the rules of the sea before setting out, i.e. not be a novice or it's just suicidal.
I don't really like power boats so I say GO FOR IT. You are right that's mean.. I like power boaters so pleas don't do this.. Get into sailing buy a full keel boat and go where ever you want to go! Jim
i wouldn't want to be aboard but its ok if your fed up with living
you bet and remember to add me to your life insurance before you leave
No not possible for a novice and in any case you wouldn't get the licences necessary - Unless you are very, very rich and can have a specially designed and built speedboat that would comply with all the Maritime safety laws (SOLAS).
I myself crossed the atlantic in my sailing boat back in the sixties and had considerable experience and it was before radar, G.P.S. and suchlike were invented. Today even in a vessel designed and built for Atlantic crossings there are many maritime requirements to be fullfilled.
As an experienced Master Mariner I advise you to think of some other idea and not put your life, and the lives of others who would have to come and rescue you, at risk.
yes it is possible but you would have to be insane !
Without any knowledge of navigation or tides i dint think you would get out of your nearest estuary before getting into trouble!
