If it was me, would I have lost my Licence?
Could I use this case if I was caught at 80mph in the right direction, and take it to human rights or could I claim discrimination, as he was a middle eastern person and i'm not.
A bit like the (again) non european who killed the lady walking on the pavement with her niece and friend, having just stolen the ladies sisters car, I think he only got a pittance of a sentence too.

No, you probably wouldn't have lost your licence either. My reasoning on this is that people who have driven without a licence here and killed people have been issued with ridiculously lenient sentences, such as being banned from driving (hello, they shouldn't have been driving anyway, what is that going to stop?), community service, a few weeks in jail. So far as I can see you have to do some pretty extreme stuff (like collect parking fines, or drive in bus lanes repeatedly) if you want to lose your licence, but killing someone isnt bad enough to do it.
Calm down and think of the injured.
Most likely he had a damn good solicitor! Always a good idea when facing serious charges!

my partner was banned from driving but took the risk and drove to the local hospital when somebody needed to get there urgently..anyway he got caught and the judge wanted to make an example of him and imprisoned him for three weeks when he got out he was put on a tag for a further 3 weeks and had a curfew for 3 months and probabtion for 2 years and a further driving ban for 6 years. That was without even injuring anybody maybe that bloke should of been sent to the judge my partner had, theres been rape, robbery,gbh,abh etc cases where the person didnt even get that, jeez this country is confused
At the end of the day, if his solicitors argument was more compelling than the prosecutions argument, he will win. End of story. I've seen obviously guilty people walk from a court of law when they should be behind bars cos their solicitor has been better than the prosecution. Its not about if you committed the crime, its about wheather your solicitor/barrister etc has the gift of the gab or not.
I don't think race is an issue here, if anything in this xenophobic and racist country, he was more likely to be given a life setence than to get off lightly.

Simple the prisons were full that day so they had to let him off.
If you had done it they would have sectioned you under the mental health act and chucked away the key, unless you were drunk in which case you would have been let off with a 2 year 3 month ban if you do a course.
WTF he should have been done for dangerous driving but a suspended sentenance - bullshit.
