Could anyone recommend a decent car insurer for a 17yr old female in the UK?

I am looking for cheap car insurance, the cheapest I have found is
£860 fully comp for a Fiat Punto. I would like to find cheaper, could anyone recommed an insurer?

Thanks,

Jay

well, when i 1st started driving the best offer i had BY MILES. was elephant. they undercut the closest i had by about 100 quid. then I switched to the Norwich Union. and I hated their service (i had to explain to a guy in india what a VW golf was)

For the best service and most competitive quoted I strongly recommend

www.elephant.co.uk

or

www.tesco.co.uk (i think and follow their insurance link)
just bought my daughter's first car vw fox brand new she's only just passed her test and to insure her was only 800 quid..prudential(fully com)
Your best bet is to try a price comparison site, who search most online insurers. I used to work in the industry, and these sites usually get preferential rates from the insurers.

For starters, I suggest:

http://www.confused.com

and

http://www.insuresupermarket.com.

Good luck!
the fact you are young and female is something bad and good
female is good for lower rates, young is bad cause you don't have experience and more chances of getting into an accident. it is nothing personal just statistics and they are against you. either bite the bullet and shop around or get used to the part of being grown up and being screwed by the insurance industry!otherwise join but up with all the others taking the buses and walking
tesco's gd luck
hastings insurance get them on line.i saved 180 pounds when i swapped over from tesco,s.
I googled . teenage car insurence & it came back with a few sites may be worth a look

http://www.teenageplus.co.uk/

http://www.freeindex.co.uk/article(cheap.
your at the age where insurance is always going to be high. Best thing to do is go to a broker on the high street and ask them for their best quote. if you want an online quote try shielas wheels or even tesco.
Avoid Norwich union, they get B*******s a bad name.
Try 3rd party only or TPTF to reduce the premiums, getting mummy, daddy grandma etc to own and insure it is pretty standard practice as is not having a car and driving the boyfriend's motor, watch out though my girlfriend wrote my fiat off and had to marry me because she could not pay for it. we are still together after 20 years
Go to elephant.co.uk.
I had a quote from Budget, for third party fire and theft, and that was nearly £700.
I tried elephant,and got two quotes,for my rover,and at fully comp,it was only £450.
Admiral

dont go for a womens only insurer, they tend to be more expensive ive found.
ive also found that prudential give the cheapest at the moment and you get free breakdown cover for a yr
Try Direct Motor Line on 0800 0111844.

They will give you a quote and if you can find something cheaper within seven days, they'll refund the difference.

I couldn't find anything cheaper!
