Are there any reasons why the driving age should NOT be raised?
Answers:
I'm sure you wouldn't be saying this when you were a teenager though. Now that you know you have your license and all, you are all talk about it but I bet you wouldnt have agreed with this a while back.
dnt piss college students of or it WILL have riots
No there isn't.
that way wen kids go off to colledge, they will have driving experience and because it is fun to drive
no reason as far as i can see.
I can't think of any reason why it should not be raised , it would empty the roads a bit
It's a difficult argument because the reasons to raise it - safety - will likely outweigh any individual needs.
If I had to argue it, I would say many teenagers rely on driving to get to and from work. These teenagers fill positions that are hard to fill because of part-time needs at minimum wage. These jobs also prepare them early and teach them valuable lessons about a workplace environment.
There are also many farmers that count on their children to help out around the farm. A licensed teenager is a valuable asset in getting work done cheaply without having to hire outside.
You'll need to do some research for evidence to support the benefits of working at an early age and possibly the number of farmers that rely on family to help out and the money they save as a result.
I can think of no reason why it SHOULD be raised, but I can think of a perfectly good reason why it WILL NOT be raised.
It is to do with the fact that the economy depends on younger workers who need to get to work.
From an ethical point of view, young drivers are adults, with adult rights, and to discriminate against them could be a matter for the European Court of Human Rights.
If you don't like young drivers on the road, catch a bus!
I think it should be - look at the number of kids that are involved in accidents because they are driving irresponsibly. They decide to show off to their friends and that is what goes wrong.I think the age should be raised!
kids going to jobs, school, etc.
the need for more room on school buses
Surely training is a far more acceptable answer. Teach kids to drive and not just to pass a test..
If youngsters are taught properly ie: not by bad habbit mum or dad then their safe on the road so there would be no reason to raise the age. The question you should ask is are old people like over 30 fit to drive with all their bad habits and aggressive driving. I'm 43 by the way and think everyone should do a retest every 10 years to keep up to modern driving techniques like the kids have to.
There are none.
