Where the law stands in the UK on this is.If you get caught by a police vehicle for any offence, and they were parked illegally, then, if you can show this when taken to court, the magistrates 'must' throw the case out.

The police are not above the law and if it is not an emergency call they are parked illegally. i once had a run in with a copper who had double parked on the pavement to go to a shop on official police business but not an emergency call. I hit his car trying to get passed. I got a nice respray out of it and compensation for car hire while the work was being done.

Report the illegal parking straight away and ask for an inspector in traffic to attend as they are required to so do when dealing with Road Traffic incidents involving Police.
