If you have spent convictions, why do these still showup on a data protection form from the police?

Answers:
It may be spent as regards to declaring it on some job
applications , however once you have a record with the
police thats probably it..
They stay on your records for 10 years
try getting a firearms cert ,,,they even know if you were caught speeding 30 years ago!
im a convicted armed robber, and a convicted thief and druggie, and none of it shows up anymore. theres a big difference between plod at the side of the road, and any in depth request for data, will flag it up.

ive just been CRB checked as i work in the community. and i passed. mind you my crimes were 1977. 81 and ive been clear and clean since..
