Why do i have to wear a seat belt when driving my car. who am i hurting other than my self?
Answers:
Because when you go through the windscreen and are in a wheelchair for the rest of your life you will need health care paid for by others.
Your actions (in not wearing a safety belt) do not just affect yourself.
exactly, some stupid law like illeagal drugs and illegal suicide. pointless you only hurt yourself doing it unless you go mental when taking various narcotics
believe it or not the government care about you (or so it seems) either that or they dont want you suckin up the thousands of tax pounds you paid for your treatment in hospital
good point but why wouldnt u want to wear 1?
Well, yes, perhaps you have a point to a certain extent.
However, if you catapult yourself through the windscreen and require masses of expensive medical treatment to save your life, you are hurting the taxpayers and the NHS in their pockets!
Also, you have to wear a seatbelt whilst travelling as a passenger in a car. And if you are a BACK seat passenger, unrestrained, in an accident, you COULD kill or severely injure the person you are sitting behind.
stupid laws i don't like to were them myself
How about the people who have to -literally - scrape your body parts off the road afterwards? Do you think thats ok for them to do? I have seen brains pouring out of heads. At that point, it is not your own responsibility anyway. Imagine having to search the area for limbs or bits of limbs to give loved ones as much of the body back as you can find.
Good point but I suppose it comes down to Goverment/public money spent on the treatment when you fly through the windscreen.
Spare a thought for the fire personnel, paramedics and others who have to deal with the aftermath of you not wearing a seatbelt.
My brother is a fireman and finds it difficult when day after day he has to quite literally scrape people off the road, all because they didn't see the point of wearing a seatbelt. He see's the aftermath and it can be very traumatic and a tragic waste of life.
I can tell you why I wear one..cause they will give me a ticket if I don't.but really it does make good scenes.
When you get smashed up in an accident because you didn't wear a seat belt it hurts the people who have to clean up the mess. Maybe you think they enjoy it.
A list of people you are potentially hurting.
The unfortunate emergency service personnel who have to scrape your guts off your dashboard, or remove bits of your face from the windscreen.
The old lady who can't get a hospital bed because your injuries from not wearing a seat belt take the bed up.
Me, the taxpayer, who you expect to pay for reconstructive surgery on your stupid face after it was first through the windscreen. And if you've got a family, will the state have to keep your widow and orphans?
Your mother, crying at your funeral.
Enough? Put your seat belt on. It's not such a big deal.
When you loose your arm and legs everyone's insurance is affected. Thats why premiums keep going up. Now if there was a law passed keeping that from happening I wouldn't care if you wore it or not. Also, if you get ejected from your car and into another and kill someone else, it affects another family as well.
Besides it being the law, if you are in the back and not wearing a belt then you could kill the person in front of you from impact. If you are driving you could fly through the windscreen rather than possibly being able to stop the car from a worse crash and killing others in your car.
Also, most people don't want to put their own lives at risk.
Having said all that, i knew someone who wasn't wearning a belt and crashed. It actually saved his life as he got flung through the windscreen and then a metal rod from lorry he crashed into speared through the middle of his chair. Would have gone straight through him. I think that when it's your time you will go, seatbelt or no seatbelt, but the law couldn't possibly think like that!
Seat belts do cause injuries, however those injuries are negligible in comparison to going through the windscreen. Also seat belts in the back prevent passengers in the rear crushing those in the front seats.
My wife was is a reporter and went to an inquest where the driver of a car was killed. The car rolled over and because the driver was not wearing his belt, when the side window broke, his upper body was flung out and he was crushed as the car continued to roll. He died a horrible and painfull death. Still if that's what you want.
If you don't wear a seat belt your a fool, in my opinion of course.
i feel ur pain bud you know why cause if u die 2 things happen the patolman who was first at the scene has to fill out a lot of paper work and it keeps him up for hours away from family
and two they film ur body sliding out of the car and its a viedo for defense class or the army plus ur not sending a very good message to others but maybe ur right maybe the cops need more money but anyway a ticket for seatbelts in my community is like 300 dollars and u can spend that on other stuff so just wear it or something i mean just stuff to think about
i don't know. sometimes a seatbelt can do more harm than good. I know somebody who got in a bad wreck and got thrown out the car and was alright. Police say if he was wearing his seatbelt, he would have broken his neck and been killed so i don't know. In my opinion, you should have the option because a seatbelt doesn't always help
I won't move my car until everyone is wearing a seat belt. Safety is just common sense to me.
But as you don't want to wear one try driving your car into a wall at 50mph and see if that changes your mind (if you are still alive).
You might have a different view if you had to pay your own medical bills instead of going to NHS.That was my whole reason for joining the Ambulance Service after a bad RTA tboned a waggon before seatbelts where compulsory.I was impaled on the steering wheel hub,but for the Medics and Firemen wouldn't have survived to get married and have two beautiful kids(I spent six months in hosp) I rest my case.
Do you want to go through the windscreen and get hurt? Think of the inconvenience of being in hospital, let alone the cost to the NHS and the worry to your family.
when you get an accident and you fly out of the car you will be hurting the car you land on or the one that runs you over that is who you are hurting
Responding to the additional information:
The early seat belts worked poorly and it contributed to the increased injuries. However, seat belt technology is now much improved (e.g. shoulder belt, airbags, etc.)
Personally, I know a fireman who witnessed a person burned alive because the heat of the fire fused the seat belt buckle - and they couldn't get close to cut him free. To this day, he refuses to wear a seat belt.
Because you could be projected out of your car into my car and cause me to have an accident.
If your not wearing a seat-belt didn't affect me and my family I wouldn't care what you did.
I have been asking the same question for ages!
It is the law. Insurance companies have pushed for this. Did you know that if you are not wearing your seat belt at the time of an accident, that the insurance company can in fact deny your getting coverage.
You're hurting MY wallet when your insurance is not sufficient to put your sorry @$$ back together again after you have a wreck and the state has to step in with MY tax dollars. And when they have to step in with MY tax dollars to support the family you left behind when you died because you were to stupid to wear a belt.
And you REALLY p!$$ me off when you crash into me because you weren't wearing a belt and lost control of your car (pickup in my case).
