Two outboard engines or One?

If you have 2x 50HP engines on the back of a speed boat, do they work as well as 1x 100HP engine?

either way, what is the point of having two? - (other than a safety aspect if one cuts out)

Answers:
If you have 2 x 50hp engines it would not be economical you also have the added cost of two servicing charges , not as fast as a single 100hp engine 2 x 50hp engines are more manoeuvrable and as you have already mentioned the safety aspect there is no need to go into that
If there is room fit 3.
The boat will have better low-speed maneuvering ability with two motors. You can put one in reverse and the other forward to turn on a dime. Also if you are trolling, or just want to go slow in an canal etc. you can use just one motor which will be more efficent than running a big motor barely above idle.
No and none !
Dude, go with the two, they actually better than just the one, much better manueverbility and just better performance. As long as u got some dough to pay for that gas uell be happy, and have fun!
A single engine will scew the rear of the boat in the opposite direction theat the prop is turning. Dual engines rotate in opposite directions in order to counteract that force.
