My cars is juddering intermittently.?
Answers:
Diesel or Petrol?
If Petrol.and as it's a Vauxhall:
It WILL run at higher revs at startup - this is the get the engine & cat convertor up to operating temp quickly. It WILL be revving higher in colder weather.
If after say 30 seconds you 'blip' the throttle a few times (accelerator) it should bring it down a little bit.
The juddering is caused by misfiring / poor fuel mix. Change the air filter, and get your plugs checked / changed if they haven't been done recently (last 2 years).
it could also be your air inlet temperature sensor playing up - these don't go very often, but cause erratic (especially cold) running when they are faulty.
If diesel:.it's just cold - rev it a little to clear.
Bung some oil in it!!
How long have you had if for?
I have lots of ideas, but I don't know what "juddering" means. Is that word in the Check Spelling list? Time to take it to a mechanic to have it properly diagnosed.
Astra's are crap do yourself a favour and set fire to it !
Sounds like it is "misfiring" pehaps the wires need replacing or check the plugs themselves perhaps one is "fouled" also could be a automatic choke issue sticking perhaps?
Temperature gauge is hardly likely to work immediately and especially if the engine isn't running properly. I'm not a mechanic but it sounds like your automatic choke is faulty. I hope this helps
