1 it must be securely attached to your car
2 the bikes must be securely attached to the rack
3 the number of bikes must not exceed the design capability's of the rack
4 if the rack obscures the number plate you have to make sure it can be read i.e. another number plate
5 the rack will affect the performance and handling of your car so you will have to adjust your driving
6 buy your rack from a reputable source, a decent bike shop with knowledgeable staff , or a Halfords who are very helpful and knowledgeable

Yes there are variations on this Tail gate version I have seen 3 bikes on them.
Roof racks also for 1 to many bikes.
Halfords, cycle shops, caravan and camping outlets also sell them.
