I maintaine my own cars normally and should have done the job myself but i havent been to well lately and thought they could do this simple job for me.

Take it back , or if they are incompetent and you dont trust them , take to another garage and have confirmed that it has been fitted incorrectly then present them with the evidence and ask for your money back, there is far to many people today who have destroyed my trade with there lack of training and decency , and downright dishonesty
How is it not fitted correctly? Did they not use the correct belt? Is the belt loose? If its the incorrect belt, thats an easy fix. If its too loose, you should be able to smell the burning rubber, or it could possibly be squeeling also. If so, find the belt tensioner and tighten it up a bit. Or I believe with the 300, if its not a diesel, the 3.0 liter inline 6 cylinder engines come with an automatic belt tensioner. Which is usually a spring loaded pulley that is attached to the block that appears to do nothing but ride on the belt. It provides down pressure to keep the belt tight. Check that and make sure its not worn out. A good rule of thumb, if the belt pulley has grooves on it, it goes around the pulley, if its smooth, the backside of the belt goes around that pulley.
You hit it on the head, these belts can go all around back and forth to tie all the pulley's together, and whats happened they've put it on and it's tight but they've missed some pulley's out, unless you've replaced these this will sound like I'm talking crap but Ive seen it happen, although i think you know this already by your question, yes you do need a diagram to know which way to fit the belt, i will have a look and if i have one i will try and scan it and paste it,
Sorry i don't have a diagram for that model, search the web but call it a "drive belt" of course
Yes, its a mistake i once made. The belt will fit in two ways but one will run the fan hub backwards, also the waterpump, hence the overheating. You can tell by the pitch of the fanblades (should pull air through the rad) which way it should run. Garage should put this right AND any subsequent damage, if any. Diagrams in Autodata books and CDroms that most garages should have.
