What is the tidiest way to fix perspex windows to a small boat without using expensive window seals?!?
Answers:
As long as the perspex is cut oversize use silicon wait for it 2 dry then trim off any excess with craft knife easy as that ! done it my self a few times hope it helps oh yes put the over lap on the outside of the boat so if you get hit by a big wave it will not push the perspex back into the boat
Get some silicon sealant from your local builders mearchant, its cheaper than diy stores.
Get some masking tape and paste onto the outline that you do not want the adhesive to be there. Then squeeze clear silicon on the bottom of the window then place the perspex in position and fill up the both right and left side and finally the top edge, then even out the silicon by over a wet finger to prevent silicon from back sticking while you even out the silicon.Leave to dry out and finally strip off the masking tape.Presto! you bave a very neat and cheap job
You can buy flexible double sided seal tape from diy stores, place it around the edge leaving a gap of around 8mm then stick the window in place, then use black silicone sealer to fill the gap around the edge.
It looks better than using clear silicon as it gives a black frame around the window.
I use nails. But then my windows always leak.
window seal or silacone
