.
it opens the door and if you push it closed it locks the door.
By a spring in the handle and in the lock
it opens the door for you when you want to enter
Go to a hardware store, they almost always have a model of the gears to show how the mechanism works.
you turn it.or push it down.and.wait for it....door opens!!!...
in a car or truck when you lift the door handle.it make a rod or cable pull at the door latch and when the door latch is pulled toward the inside of the door it releases from the other part of the inside of the door closing and the door opens,
when you let go of the door handle the rod or the cable lets the door latch go out and when you push the door closed, the latch catches and the door stays closed, it works the same way for the exterior door handle also..
good luck

i own a repair shop and it trips a lever that releases the latch ,and lets the door open up,once the handle is released it can be re-latched again by shutting the door ,and then it can be tripped again by lifting up on the handle, good luck i hope this help,s.
fatma sounds like a muslim name. explains ur idiocy with this question!
depends on wat kind of door handle.
some u have to push down some you have to turn.
(cant believe im actaully answering this one!)
No need to trouble yourself with difficult questions like that. Just climb out of the window instead.
You pull it up and it snaps off, if you dont own an Austin Allegro then you pull or push the handle and it trips a lever on the door lock which pulls up the spring loaded lever which releases the catch which grabs the post or u piece on the door pillar and lets the door come open, when you close the door this catch swings round the post or U piece and a spring loaded lever drops in and holds the catch in position which prevents the door opening until some one operates the door handle,
The door lock mechanism moves the pivot of the spring loaded lever so that operating the door handle does not release the catch when locked but does when unlocked.
Well,,,,,, you did ask .
Its either press button or lever , both work the same it pulls a rod which trips a lever which releases the door catch on door lock, when the key is turned it isolates the release lever
