How long will 2 stroke oil last for when mixed with petrol. i.e. i have some premixed from last year, can it ?

Answers:
Teflon is NOT found in any oils unless its a additive (like slick 50) that color you see is a dye, nothing more. (teflon additives like slick 50 have been shown to damage engines)

You can use oil designed for a water cooled engine, of course you'll reduce the engines life, or probablly burn the engine up. oil for air cooled 2 strokes is made for air cooled 2 strokes for a reason, they run alot hotter.

NOW, 2 stroke oil will stay mixed with the gas, forever.. be sure to use a fuel stabilizer, or find a 2 stroke oil that contains fuel stabilizer in it. That opti 2 oil (ain't synthetic) has been talked about not staying mixed though..

If the oil/mix is old, dump it in the car's gas tank and be fine with it., and DO FOLLOW the ratio given by the engine manufacturer. I see no difference in 50:1 to 40:1. 50:1 is just a little less oil.. 32:1 and over, and you will lower the octane rating of the gas more and more. You can keep condensation from forming my storing the engine full of gas, and the gascan full of gas and sealed tight. I have never had a problem in years by doing this. Just be sure to use a fuel stabilizer if keeping the gas over a month or two.
Take the old mix you have now and safely throw it in your cars gas tank. Unstabilized gas (if it wasn't) will turn rancid and of course varnish, then gum up.
I've stored mixed gas over the winter before and used it the next year. It doesn't really cause any problems, though often my 2-stroke motor doesn't perform as well as it does once I get new gas in there.

But it's not going to hurt anything to use it.
If you used a stabilizer, it's totally okay. If you didn't, you will probably be okay, but might experience some extra smoke or sputtering. If it's not a lot of mixed, I would just get rid of it and use new mixture.
Check the octane requirement for your motor. If it calls for premium, don't use old gas, as it loses octane level when stored. Otherwise, make sure the oil hasn't settled by shaking it and mixing it before using.

I take all unused gas and run it in my lawn mower and weed whacker.
the oils fine. the gas is another story. if you must use it try mixing it with new gas. use about 1 part old with 3 parts new. be careful of condensation collected in the bottom of the can.
Bang ! Wanac got it ! "CONDENSATION", Gas gets "Varnishy" as it gets older, and rots the fuel lines if left in them for extended periods of time. Dump the old fuel, or use it in the lawn mower (thats what I do). There is a noticeable increase in performance of two-stroke motors when you use fresh fuel mix. 50:1 ratio is standard, O.K. !! It's school time for two stroke oil !!!if you look at the bottle of two stroke oil, it will "usually" say:

TCW-3 that means - FOR TWO CYCLE WATER COOLED engines (most oils now contain "TEFLON", not a big deal now but, 15 years ago it was something special)usually purple in color.

TC-2 is for two cycle "AIR" cooled engines (weed whackers, NOT OUTBOARDS) usually it's that little can at the lawn mower store, usually green in color.

You can use TCW-3 in the lawn mower, weed whacker, etc.

You CANNOT use TC-2 in an outboard WATER cooled two cycle engine !
