Can anybody help ,i have just purchased a vauxhall zafira 2.0 dti has it got a timing belt or is it a chain?

christina your engine has a belt and to change it you must change all the pulleys as well the job can be done insitu and make sure you fit new water pump for piece of mind cantake about 3hours to do
its got a belt
most cars these days diesel or petrol have timing belts rather than chains, if you are still unsure go to the dealer or look in the manual
Very few cars have a cam chain these days. You can be fairly sure its got a belt + If the cars done 60+ thou you need it changing, very expensive if it snaps.
i would recommend the belt changed every 40k on this vehicle.
