Car key stuck in door lock, it does lock and unlock, just doesn't come out?
Answers:
Try WD40 - magic in a can.
Well, if it comes out halfway, then it should come out all the way. First use some alcohol to clean the cylinder if you can, then get some spray graphite. Spray liberally, place the lock cylinder in a vise or something that will hold it securely, then pull the key straight out using firm but even pressure. Hope this helped.
Steve L knows how to sort your problem out. I can confirm he is right.
Try spraying a little WD-40 inside it. Then wiggle it just a little bit as you pull on it. If it still refuses to come out, then take it to a locksmith. They won't charge you very much to remove it. They'll be able to fix it so that it won't happen again.
yeah,go with steve. WD40 always works
Try heating the lock with a hairdryer
graphite is good so is DW40, but it's sounds like your tumbler's in your cylinder have spun. you'll need to have the lock re-keyed. having the tumbler's renumbered.
I would say WD40 as well.
That happened to me, only it was the ignition lock. I got the key out using a thin strip of steel, but the key wouldn't go back in as the lock mechanism has broken in some way - there is a hole in the end of the key, and a pin goes through that hole inside the lock, which stops the key being removed while the ignition is on. The only solution is to replace the cylinder, which obviously means a new key for that lock. You could try to get a complete set of locks from a breaker, and replace the lot - that at least keeps it in a better condition for resale.
