Any planning officers out there? need good answers regarding putting a pontoon on the river the land is ours?

we have environment agency approval to put brand new ponntoons on our stretch of river in north yorks, do we need planning approval, no one seams to know, and no one else has bothered just gone ahead and built any old thing. a expert view would be apreciated thanks.

Answers:
check on your local councils planning web site. Just had a look at ours and as far as I can see, as you own the bank on your river you do not require planning permission as long as the construction is not extended more than four feet from the bank. Hope this helps.
Have you tried contacting the Planning Department of your Local Authority? They are usually very helpful
