Why do people drive down the motorway in the central lane, instead of using it as its meant to be?

to be a member you just have to be a complete pillock.
to many hgv wagons on the in side
cause they are Stupid
coz people are lazy bstrds and cant b bothred 2 use roads corrctley
its because they are stupid.they have tunnel vision and have no idea what is happening around them.
Lots of large vehicles in slow lane.
Because they are thick, they seem to forget that the same rules apply on motorways as on other roads. Drive in the left hand lane unless you are overtaking. they mistakenly think there is a slow lane, middle lane and fast lane, whereas there is actually the left hand lane for driving and 2 overtaking lanes
Animal instinct. Humans were programmed to drive down the centre lanes.
so they don't have to constantly dodge in and out of slow moving HGVs, vans, and other vehicles
Comfort zone, they are people who lack confidence in their own driving ability and wrongly feel that by being in lane 2 they are safe in the event of something going wrong, plus no one taught them motorway skills, perhaps it should be compulsary after passing their test
Because they don't know how to drive correctly !!
IDIOTS !!
Because they think they own the roads, & are to selfish to think straight ,
the middle lane is for overtaking only not cruising in as some morons seem to do
Either they are idiots or too damn selfish to use the roads properly. Read the highway code people!!

Knows.

Too much fraffe in the left hand lane, necessitating too many hazerdous lane changes if you want to remain in the left hand lane and still do more than 50mph!!
Often because they are doing 70, the speed limit, and whenever they pull into the 1st lane they can't get out again to keep at 70. If people kept to the speed limit there would be less impact from people "hogging" the middle lane at 70mph If people were less selfish and allowed others to pull out to overtake then they woldn't stay in the middle lane. Then again there are total idiots who hog the middle lane when the 1st lane is empty for the next mile or so or when they are doing less than 70 so causing an obstruction
Its safer.
Inside lane is close to Hard shoulder where people are walking about changing tyres etc.
Headlamps aim to the left so you are blind to the right so any avoidance swerve must be left as that is where you can see its clear, so if the motorway is clear at night use the middle lane.
if it aint clear use the the left lane unless overtaking.
The big problem is morons too stupid to realise their speedometer is a bit of cheap and nasty junk, which shows 70 when they are doing 66.5, who resolutely think anyone tryng to go faster than them is breaking the law. Anyone that stupid shouldnt be driving. It aint rocket science to check your speedo using the 100 metre posts on Dual Carriageways, and a stop watch.1588 (not 1500) meters to the mile, so 1600 is within 1 %, So 60 mph 1600 metres should take 60 sec, probably take 64 sec so actually 56 mph,
because they are too lazy to move over after over taking, then they get upset when you undertake them(against the law i know), if people drove properly, others would not be able to break the law due to the their inconvient stupid driving!!
cos they dont want to go as slow as the trawlers on the left or as fast as the limit breakers on the right
Because they are Idiots and do not know the highway code.
I like wizzing past them on the inside and watching their faces. They generaly then move into the inside lane then!
basically they are idiots
Because they are stupid
are you talking about an interstate that might have more than 2 lanes going each way. if so people stay in the middle so that if something happens in front of them, they have options of where to go and they might avoid a wreck.
The centre lane is for people to cruise at normal sppeds on the motorway, not in the highway code but for practical use thats why. If you try to stick on the inside lane you keep having to slow down for slow moving vehicles, then accelerate using much more fuel, pull back in and have to repart the same procedure almost instantly. Which is silly. And the outside lane means you have to keep pulling in for maniacs to get past or drive along pretending you haven't seen them while they're trying to pinch your exhaust and rear bumper.
Could be something to do with peoples lack of the highway code, total ignorance of other road users, people thinking they are driving a ten foot wide tank, or maybe a combination of them all. I have been driving a hgv at 50mph in the nearside lane of an empty motorway, and come across a vehicle in the centre lane doing 40! I am not allowed to go into the third lane, and not allowed to overtake on the inside. Very annoying.
