Regarding the new regulations for child booster seats .?
Answers:
from what i understand the law states that if it is not possiable to fit a car seat due to there being insufficent space then a booster seat is not required. Ie. if the other spaces are occupied by car seats already. If not then surley for your childs sake you would use a 3 Point Seat belt. Thought for this using a booster seat you would also need a restraint for the seatbelt to ensure it fits propley.
Mothercares advice is "The seat belt should be correctly adjusted and worn as tightly as possiable - the lap belt should go over the pevic region, Not the stomach and the shoulder belt should rest on the shoulder not the neck."
Argos sell a full size seat for 20 pound which will happly fit on a three point linkage but for better advice you would need to say why you can't use a 3 point belt.

As far as I understand it is only the height of the child, types of belts do not apply!
In most cars that lack the rear 3 point belt you can actually find it in the owners manual where they suggest taking the car to a dealer and having the extra belt added so it can safely accommodate a child seat.
